<p><a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/starmagic" target="_blank"><u><strong>Star Magic</strong></u></a> and Rise Studio artist Charlie Dizon rose to fame for her successful portrayal of Jane in the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) big winner <em>Fan Girl </em>where she also won Best Actress. </p><p>Beautiful and talented, Charlie, whose real name is April Rose Dizon Matienzo, was born on April 12, 1996. youngest child in their family. &quot;<em>Bunso ako sa magkakapatid</em> and<em> malayo &#x27;yung </em>gap<em> ng mga ate ko sa&#x27;kin</em>,&quot; she said. </p><p>In the Christmas episode of Push Bets Live, Charlie said that she got to celebrate Christmas with her parents this year. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, they were not able to travel to the United States, like they used to, to see her sisters. &quot;<em>Nakapag-</em>spend <em>ako ng </em>Christmas with my parents. Sadly, <em>dapat nasa</em> US<em> kami ngayon kasi &#x27;dun &#x27;yung mga ate ko. Ta&#x27;s</em> every Christmas<em> nando&#x27;n kami talaga </em>usually,<em> pero dahil nga may pandemya, mahirap lumipad </em>and senior <em>na rin &#x27;yun</em> parents <em>ko</em> so <em>natatakot kami. Her big break came when she joined the primetime fantaserye <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/bagani" target="_blank"><u><strong>Bagani</strong></u></a> in 2018.  Other projects she did between 2018 and 2019 included <em>Sin Island, Parasite Island</em>, and<em> Pandanggo sa Hukay</em>. She also appeared in Ipaglaban Mo and Maalala Mo Kaya episodes. </p><p>In 2020, Charlie landed a role in the primetime action series A Soldier&#x27;s Heart, and starred as the young Teddie in Four Sisters Before The Wedding movie. That was all before Fan Girl, which was first showcased at the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival, hit the local screens for the 2020 MMFF.</p><div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="453" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/YImtIvhq1xM" width="806"></iframe></div><p>Another fun fact about Charlie that got people talking was her friendship with MOMOLAND member Nancy McDonie, whom she met during her training days in South Korea.</p><p>In a recent Instagram Story, Nancy posted about Charlie and referred to her as her Filipina best friend.<br/> <br/>In the same Push Bets Live episode, Charlie explained the story behind the said post. &quot;<em>Alam mo, nakakatuwa si Nancy kasi bago niya i-</em>post<em> &#x27;yun tumawag siya sa akin, tapos kinamusta niya ako. Oo, nag-usap kami sa KakaoTalk &#x27;nun </em>time<em> na &#x27;yun. Nagulat din ako &#x27;nun tumawag siya kasi parang una, nag</em>-message <em>siya sa akin sa </em>Instagram<em> tapos ako dapat &#x27;yung tatawag. Pag tingin ko, may</em> missed call<em> na pala siya </em>so <em>&#x27;yun nag-usap kami tapos kinamusta niya ako. Tapos siya din &#x27;nung </em>time <em>na &#x27;yun, papunta siya sa... basta magpo</em>-promote<em> siya ng </em>single <em>nila.</em>&quot; </p><p>The actress also said that Nancy even asked for details on how to watch her movie, and that the K-pop idol already knew about <em>Fan Girl </em>since early this year when they saw each other in the Philippines. &quot;So talagang inaabangan din niya.</p><p>&quot;<em>Kaya siyempre, sobrang</em> grateful<em> ko na </em>pinost <em>ni Nancy.
