Having shot his Metro Manila Film Festival entry, The Missing in Japan last year, Joseph Marco said he enjoys making movies outside the country.

“Actually, before ko mabasa yung script sinabi na sa akin na mag-shu-shoot kami sa Japan and siyempre I’m excited kasi bihira naman yung project na shinu-shoot abroad and when I read the script siyempre mas lalo akong na-excite and I’m just really thankful na si direk Easy (Ferrer) yung naka-work ko and Ritz Azul, Miles Ocampo, kasi ang gaan nilang katrabaho and wala akong nakikitang ibang mag-po-portray ng character ni Iris maliban kay Ritz,” he said.

Playing the role of Ritz’s former flame who recruits her to do restoration work on an ancient home in the prefecture of Saga was a fun experience for Joseph also because of his female co-stars.

“I love working with Ritz. Siya talaga yung perfect for this role and madaling katrabaho si Ritz. Wala siyang arte and she’s very professional. Si Ritz and Miles hindi na nila kailangan ng ‘Direk isa pa.’ Working with Ritz and Miles I really enjoyed. I had fun,” he said.

The Missing was also his first project with Miles.

“After we filmed this naka-work ko naman siya sa isang sitcom. Working with Miles na-enjoy ko yung scene namin kasi medyo action yung scene namin. Especially dun sa dulo na may revelation. Hindi ko puwede ikuwento kasi I don’t want to spoil the movie pero may mga revelation kami for this film and I really enjoyed working with Miles,” he added.

With the film still available for streaming along with the other 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries via Upstream.ph, Joseph hoped people will still be able to catchThe Missing before it ends its run-on January 7.

“It’s not a typical horror story. May taste ng Filipino of course but it was shot in Japan and makikita mo talaga sa mga eksena yung quality ng film, yung mga sightseeing na nakunan namin, the locations, so dapat talaga nilang panuorin. May matututunan sila kasi yung mga tao ngayon, from what happened with COVID makaka-relate sila sa character ni Iris,” he says.
