Daniel Padilla-Charo Santos film to compete in Singapore film fest

<p><em>Kun Maupay Man It Panahon</em>, the tragic film starring Daniel Padilla and Charo Santos-Concio, has been chosen as a competing entry to this year&#x27;s Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF).</p><p>The movie, with the international title <em>Whether the Weather Is Fine</em>, is competing at the festival&#x27;s Asian Feature Film Competition category, against other entries from countries such as Egypt, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Iran, Hong Kong, India, Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Indonesia. </p><p>&quot;In this moving dilemma between staying and leaving, we are left laughing with official synopsis, follows the story of a mother and her son who, in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yolanda, &quot;struggle for survival and deal with absurdity of fate, sustained by the hope that they carry, and what is lost and gained.&quot;</p><p>The movie is directed by Carlo Francisco Manatad, whose short film, <em>Jodilerks Dela Cruz, Employee of the Month</em>, was nominated in the by Typhoon Yolanda, said that <em>Kun Maupay Man It Panahon</em> &quot;expresses an understanding of a devastation that has changed a community and humanity as a whole.&quot;</p><p>&quot;It is a commentary in the form of a satire, and deals with the absurd generation we have become today,&quot; he added.</p><p>The movie is a joint project of Dreamscape, iWant, Quantum Films, Black Sheep, and Globe Studios, with international partner studios in France, Singapore, Indonesia, Germany, and Qatar.</p><p>Prior to SGIFF, <em>Kun Maupay Man It Panahon</em> had been chosen as a competing entry in film festivals in Hawaii, Iraq, London, Mexico, Chicago, and Bucharest in Romania.</p><p>It also previously competed in the prestigious Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, where it bagged a special award—the Cinema e Gioventù Prize, which is given by designated youth juries called to evaluate the official film entries to the festival.</p><div><a
