Chynna Ortaleza on signing singer Adie during the pandemic: ‘Alam namin na he was going to make it big’

<p>After signing singer-songwriter Adie last year, Chynna Ortaleza shared how they came upon inviting the 20-year-old singer to join their roster of talented O/C Records artists. Since his debut single “Luha” was released November, he has followed it up with other songs like the massive hit “Paraluman” which has 47M streams to date.</p><p>“Actually Adie is very humble. Initially we were scouting him na, looking into his social platforms and we could see his potential right off the bat even if he was just doing covers during that time. There’s really just something about that artist na pupulsuhan mo if you really want to take time to invest in this artist. In the 34th Awit Awards, he was nominated as Breakthrough Artist and Favorite Male  Artist of the Year while in the 7th Wish Music Awards, he was nominated as Wish  Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Wishclusive Contemporary Folk Performance of the  Year for his single, “Paraluman”. Chynna said that they made it their responsibility to support Adie on his musical journey as part of the O/C Records family.</p><p>“I guess everyone is aware that O/C Records really caters to artists who are singer-songwriters and also we really give a lot of importance when it comes to their original material and how they write and how they sound. So nung nakita namin and narinig namin yung demos ni Adie, alam namin na he was going to make it big. So talagang much like pag-ma-manage, pareho din pala siya ng pag-a-artista. Rollercoaster kasi may ups and downs siya pero what’s good about our relationship is talagang hindi kami nag-gi-give up sa mga gusto naming gawin. So together, when we collaborate with Adie, number one is we believe in his vision. If the artist wants to do it, believes in it, puts his heart into it, bakit naman masasayang yung time natin dun kung mapapasaya yung artist? Dun kami ni Kean (Cipriano) babangko lagi. During this time na parang nagulat din kami. It taught us a lesson na we just have to really have to put a growth mindset right there and then keep on growing and growing everyday and just keep on moving forward. So it’s surprising because we did sign a lot of artists during the pandemic and we doubled our releases during the pandemic. More so than the first years of O/C. So it’s been a blessing.
