Nio Tria reacts to mom Cherry Pie Picache’s new relationship: ‘Seeing her happy also makes me happy’

Even before his mom Cherry Pie Picache and Edu Manzano first went public with their relationship this year, new actor Nio Tria admitted he was already aware of what was happening. During the mediacon for the iQiyi series Saying Goodbye, the Squad Plus member revealed how he felt about his mom’s new relationship. Siyempre nung nakita ko na lumabas na sa balita that they were dating, hindi na ako nagulat. Kasi siyempre alam ko na before pa na pinupuntahan ni tito Edu yung mom ko and na-meet ko na siya. I get to interact with him and talk with him as well. So nung nalaaman ko na napalabas na online, sabi ko okay that’s good na alam na ng mga ibang tao and sana supportive sila. I’m really happy na supportive lahat ng tao. Nagulat kaming lahat ng naging trending. Pero I’m just really happy for my mom kasi nakikita ko naman na masaya siya ngayon and she deserves to be happy. Boto naman ako (laughs),” he shared. The 19-year-old actor and top-ranked international tennis player said he is nothing but happy and supportive of his mom right now. “Full support ako sa kanila. Pero mas okay for me na tanggapin yun in a way na because sa galing ng mom ko as an actress and yung support niya na binibigay sa akin will help me to meet the expectations ng ibang tao. She reminds me din naman na yung mga expectations na yun hindi mo kailangan i-meet. Ang importante is you know for yourself na you did your best, you worked hard, and you prepared. Siyempre may pressure pero I try to look at it in a way na pang-motivation siya sa akin,” he explained. Thankful to have his mom so hands-on with his projects, Nio said he actually looks forward to the day when they can work together onscreen.“After my workshop with director Rahyan Carlos, before entering Saying Goodbye, I was breaking down the script with my mom kasi siyempre gusto ko na alam niya yung plano for the project and makita niya yung preparation ko for it and I would ask also for tips. So I think siyempre may pressure but it’s a good pressure. May positive pressure na it makes you sure that you’re prepared and it’s not the type of pressure that makes you anxious or stressed. And she’s very supportive naman so I never felt ill feelings from her. Siguro in the future I think I’d be excited to be work with my mom sa mga eksena na ganun and I feel like yung chemistry namin okay kasi nanay ko siya di ba (laughs).
