As part of iWanTFC’s Valentine month digital series offering Unloving U, Gelli de Belen said it was initially frustrating for her to adjust to shooting under the new normal.

Mahirap, maraming restrictions, mahirap yung social distancing. Kailangan you’re conscious about cleanliness, you’re conscious about protecting yourself and protecting others. Yung ganun klase. Tapos pati yung limitations as an actor, you have to be locked in. Maraming limitasyon pero pag naiisip ko ang lahat ng yun at gusto ko magreklamo, iniisip ko na lang, ‘O kesa naman wala tayong ginagawa.’ At least dito gumawa tayo ng paraan to work on this situation and if this is what it will take to make it work and para makapagtrabaho muli, para makagawa ng pelikula, makagawa ng TV show, eh di tiisin na muna natin. Abangan natin in time of course things will change but for now this is the new normal and so tiis tiis na lang. Kaya naman eh,” she admitted during the Unloving U mediacon this month.

The original series, which also stars Ronnie Alonte, Loisa Andalio, and Gelli’s real life hubby Ariel Rivera, features a different kind of love between two step siblings. Gelli and Ariel play two single parents who decide to get married again.

“Here in this series, we not only show the ideal type of love but yung how love really is. Hubaran mo man siya, lumipas man ang panahon, kapag ito ay wagas at pure, ito ay mangyayari. Sabi nga nila, sa haba haba ng prosesyon sa simbahan din ang tuloy. Parang ganun ang pag-ibig eh,” she shared.

During their lock-in period, Gelli said it was all about work, even if she was with her husband on location every day. “Magkakasama lang kami. Hindi kami puwede umalis. You know when you’re locked in, you stay in a hotel or in a place where everybody is staying as well. Hindi kayo puwede lumabas and sa sandaling time na ginawa namin ito, I don’t think we had enough opportunities to explore anything. So gising sa umaga, makeup, ayos, go to the set, uwi, tulog. Tulog na, wala ng ibang puwedeng gawin kasi hilo ka na, napagod ka na kasi nga we’re always on the move,” she recalls.

Despite the challenges of working during the new normal, the 47-year-old actress said she was still happy to be on the set with Ariel as well as Ronnie and Loisa. “Ang pinaka-fun dito is like working with our significant others. I think that’s the most fun part of it all. I am working with my husband and sila mag-boyfriend girlfriend so they’re working together. I think that’s the fun part of it all I must say. It’s different actually,” she added.

Watch Unloving U on iWanTFC starting February 8. Directed by Easy Ferrer.
