If there’s one thing Nadine Lustre wants you to know — it’s that a relationship isn’t just supposed to be romantic.

Nadine, who opened up about her journey of self-love during an interview for magazine NYLON Manila, tweeted the dictionary definition of “relationship” to avoid any advance assumptions the public may have.

The definition stated: “the way in which two or more people or things are connected or the state of being connected.”

“ima put this here before u get any ideas,” Nadine said as she tweeted about it.

But Nadine — who has been spotted on several occasions since her breakup with James Reid last year apart from her musical collaborations with her former boyfriend — received some unsolicited advice from one of her fans.

The netizen said assumptions exist because she “contradicts” what she says, adding she should stay away from James to completely heal.

“Assumptions are here because you contradict what you're saying Nadz if move on move on na masasaktan kalang if didikit ka kay james kahit may new gf na siya and imbes maka-heal ka lalo ka lang masasaktan gurl@hello_nadine,” the netizen tweeted.

Responding to the netizen, Nadine said: “Di ko kasalanan kung ang ‘relationship’ lang na alam mo is romantic.”

In an interview with NYLON Manila, Nadine said she would always blame herself whenever she’s in a relationship.

“I've always been afraid of being left behind. I’m afraid of being abandoned because that’s how it feels when you’re in a relationship for a long time and you separate. It changes you a lot,” she said.

“It makes you feel like there was something wrong with you that’s why the person left you. Before, I would blame myself. I would think to myself: ‘May pagkukulang ako or may ginawa ako’,” she said.

But according to Nadine, she’s still in the process of moving on.

“But you know, I would say I’m slowly ascending from that trauma. You can’t put a timeline on it. It’ll just happen.”

James Reid and Nadine Lustre broke up in January 2020.
