Kyle Echarri reveals why he wanted to quit showbiz after ‘Kadenang Ginto’: ‘Sobrang nalito ako sa sarili ko’

Six years after he exited The Voice Kids, singer and actor Kyle Echarri still can’t forget all the criticism he received online regarding his looks distracting from his voice.

“Galing pa lang ako sa The Voice ako na yung pinaka binash dahil nga sabi nila wala naman akong boses, itsura lang ang meron ako. But other people who say I’m good looking thank you it’s a blessing. Thank you so much for the compliment but I know to myself kung sino ako bilang isang artista and bilang isang tao. I know my strengths and I know my weaknesses. But I’m working on everything that I can and everyday I’m becoming better than I was yesterday,” he said.

Now that he is officially a legal adult starting this month, Kyle also shared how much he has grown as a singer and actor.

“As an artist, my confidence in myself and my happiness in myself has skyrocketed from when I was a kid. Kita niyo naman sa The Voice Kids pumiyok pa nga ako sa blind auditions (laughs) pero ngayon I’m super happy with what I’m doing. I don’t want to say I’m very confident but I’m more confident in myself. I’m more happy with how much I love myself more than I did before. Kasi before I was such an insecure kid. I never really felt the love that I needed from myself and I’m very happy now that I get to do what I want to do,” he said.

But even after six years of being in the industry, Kyle revealed he was still not sure if it was the right path for him.

“There were times talaga na iniisip ko talagang tumigil. I was thinking about stopping being in the industry but I knew to myself that wasn’t right. That was years ago. It was an on and off thing. Dati before Kadenang Ginto, after Kadenang Ginto. So many different things. Sobrang nalito ako sa sarili ko. I didn’t know kung anong mga gusto kong gawin. Pero now I’m happier than I’ve ever been in my life and I’m super excited for the future,” he said.
