‘Pusong Bato’ composer Renee ‘Alon’ Dela Rosa passes away

Known as the original composer of the 2003 hit song “Pusong Bato”, Renee ‘Alon’ Dela Rosa passed away last September 15 at the age of 61. The singer, who along with his band Alon released their own version of “Pusong Bato” in 2012 which was also recorded by Jovit Baldovino the following year and used as the theme song for the ABS-CBN superhero series Juan dela Cruz starring Coco Martin.

Alon’s death was confirmed by his daughter Justine in a post on Facebook. “Wala na po si Papuy Renee Alon,” she wrote. In a text message to Inquirer.net, Alon’s daughter revealed that the “Pusong Bato” composer passed away at the Bernardino General Hospital in Novaliches, Quezon City in the morning of September 14. She added that he also tested negative for COVID-19 after undergoing an antigen test. The bereaved family member also revealed that they had to bring their father to more than three dozen hospitals and were not able to receive any immediate care from any of them.

In a separate post, Alon’s niece, Nads Dela Rosa, posted video clips showing the body the composer at a hospital facility in an FB post, revealing what kind of treatment their family went through which stemmed from her uncle suddenly suffering from an allergy attack.

She wrote, “In behalf of Delarosa family grabe ginawa ng mga hayop na doctor at hospitals na tumanggi sa tito ko Renee Alon grabe grabe! In short napaka worst almost 48hrs nasa byahe at ambulance? Almost 30+hospitals napuntahan Walang kahit first aid sa lahat ? Given na yung punuan pero yung tatanggihan na parang aso lang at kung mag judge na mamamatay na? Seryoso!!!?? P*tang ina nyo (negative sa antigen) gusto nyo positive pa rin? Tapos walang for emergency facility laging sagot para sa positive lang eh pano nyo malalaman di nyo panga inaaksyunan ! Grabe nangyari pero pag patay na lalapit kayo para san? Pera? So ending natanggap nyo nung patay na? God bless nalang sa mga family nyo sana wag maranasan . *Hindi pa naupload ibang video pano makipagusap mga hayop na doctor di makatarungan mga reason at sagot nyo ! P*tangina nyo!! dami namin gusto sabihin mixed emotions. Pag pera na asikaso na ?(emergency room)? eh nasa gilid lang galing! The day before he passed away, Alon’s daughter Justine made a public call for donations to help buy oxygen for her father. OPM icon Freddie Aguilar was one of those who offered to send financial help to Alon. His eldest son Jordan made the official post about his passing on his father’s Facebook page.

“Anak po ito ni papuy binata niya ni Alon Pusong Bato. Iniwan na niya po tayo. Sayang di po siya inabot sa nalalapit niyang kaarawan sa September 24. Sobrang emotional pinagdadaanan na'min ngayon sa pagkawala niya. ‘I Love You FB Friends!’ lagi niya po sinisigaw. Mahal na mahal din daw po niya mga naging Totoo at Tunay na Kaibigan. Miss ko na po Papa ko. Mahal niya din po tong cp niya, Kaya aalagaan ko to remembrance ng Papa ko.”

Alon’s eldest son also shared a photo of his late father with fellow musician April Boy Regino in another post. He wrote, “Papuy ingat po kayo dyan sa langit magkasama napo kayong dalawa ng pinakamatalik mong Best friend at Kumpare”

The “Pusong Bato” composer was supposed to celebrate his 62nd birthday this coming September 24.
