Starting out as a model during her teenage years working in different parts of Asia, Joey Mead King eventually joined showbiz as a VJ for Channel V in the mid-‘90s then became host to various programs on different cable networks. Her most recent stint was as a mentor and judge on the last three cycles of Asia’s Next Top Model. This year, the 45-year-old Fil-Iranian stunner releases her memoir, Runaway Model, which chronicles her journey in the colorful world of modeling.

On her Instagram account last January 18, she wrote, “Runaway Model is my memoir that takes you into my dysfunctional famiy life as a young girl to an adventurous independant teen trying to make it as a model, also sharing a tempestous relationship that almost killed me, and being agentless in NYC... to discovering my truth and worth through my healing journey. Sprinkled with plenty ‘90s moments that I wish hadn’t happened but all had a part that carved out the woman I am this day.”

In an earlier post, Joey shared a behind-the-scenes look of the photography of her book as well as a throwback photo during one of her early test shots for a local magazine.

“I miss the ‘90s and my collagen 😜Test shot for Mega magazine 1994 … Shall be sharing what life was like for me as a model during this era, how I became a host and a whole lotta trouble I got myself into back when there was no Instagram, smart phones and being a Leo DeCaprio fan was life😊 launching soon #JMKRunawayModel #90skid.”
