Bugoy Drilon on aiming for a global career

<p>As part of the singing trio known as BuDaKhel along with fellow singers Daryl Ong and Michael Pangilinan, Bugoy Drilon shared why their camaraderie on and off the stage has translated into their successful performances here and abroad.</p><p>“Bakit kami nagkakasundo? Kasi walang competition sa aming tatlo. Ang gusto lang talaga namin, magbigay ng music sa tao. For me, ang music naman is not a competition eh. It depends yun sa tao na nakikinig kung ano yung preference nila,&quot; Bugoy explained.</p><p>&quot;And we have Michael which is our indie pop, Daryl our RnB balladeer, and I’m RnB reggae. So pag nag-combine. Para lang kaming magkakaibigan. Even in music, kahit na mag-impromptu kami, alam na namin kasi ang isa’t isa kung saan pupunta ang mga boses nila,&quot; he added.</p><p>&quot;Like Michael is on the melody and Daryl is on the high octave and ako sa low octave. He first joined the singing competition Pinoy Dream Academy.</p><p>“Dati 18 years old lang ako (laughs). I can’t believe na magtatagal ako ng 15 years sa dami ng baguhan ngayon. I think yung isang key lang talaga is you always have to maging relatable ka sa maraming tao,&quot; he said.</p><p>&quot;You always have to relay din &#x27;yung experience mo, even  in music and dun sila mag-co-connect sa iyo. And I’m so thankful dahil until now they still support me and I’m blessed na nakasama ako dito sa dalawang brother ko na medyo in-uplift din nila yung career ko. And one of the fundamentals ng pagpe-perform is you know how to communicate with your audience. So I’m still learning,” he said.</p><p>While abroad, Bugoy admitted that he does not discount the possibility of pursuing an international career.</p><p>“Kapag may opportunity, why not? Grab lang ng grab. Kasi tayo naman, ang pinaka importante talaga yung time. Kasi &#x27;yung time hindi na natin mababalik. So kapag may dumating na opportunity we will grab it talaga. And then you never know kung sino &#x27;yung ma-influence na tao,&quot; he said.</p><p>&quot;Ako kasi okay sa akin na maging influence ako sa tao rather than I’m famous na tao. Kasi when you influence them, it means na kahit wala ka na, you will still live on. &#x27;Yung music na ginawa mo, because you influenced them, it will outlive you and ma-re-remember nila yun,” he added.</p><div><strong></strong><strong></strong><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2022/11/16/fresh-scoops/bugoy-drilon-reveals-he-is-dating-again-lahat-ng-203797"><u><strong>READ: Bugoy Drilon reveals he is dating again: ‘Lahat ng naging ex ko foreigner!’<br/></strong></u></a><u><strong></strong></u></div><p>Known for his heartbreaking ballads about love and distinctive singing voice, Bugoy revealed what his goal is as an OPM singer.</p><p>“Ang pangarap ko talaga, &#x27;yung Philippines kasi is a land of singers eh. Sana one day maging instrument ako na makilala yung OPM not just in the Philippines but around the world. I think lahat naman ng mga artists they want to be recognized internationally. So sana maging isang instrumento ng OPM para makilala sa buong mundo,” he shared.</p><p>For next year, Bugoy looks forward to doing a solo concert as well as performing with Budakhel in more performances in the future.</p><p>“Siguro tatapusin lang muna namin itong Budakhel kasi wala pa kaming solo concert talaga na Budakhel eh. So it might be February yung concert ng Budakhel. Pinag-iisipan pa namin. Maybe after that, sa 15 years ko siguro mga September, mga ganun. Kasi &#x27;yun &#x27;yung time na pumasok ako ng <em>Pinoy Dream Academy. </em>So very memorable sa akin &#x27;yun,” he admitted.</p>
