PETA celebrates their 55th anniversary with the martial law musical ‘A Game of Trolls’

<p>After being established in 1967 by Cecile Guidote-Alvarez, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) was meant to be a vehicle for local theater to play a role in the development of the country&#x27;s people and society. To celebrate the company’s 55th anniversary this year, PETA will stream Liza Magtoto’s martial law musical for millennials, <em>A Game of Trolls</em>, to be directed by Maribel Legarda, with lyrics, composition, arrangement and musical direction by Vincent de Jesus via ktx.ph on April 8, 22, and 23.</p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2021/10/20/fresh-scoops/cherry-pie-picache-stars-in-hiv-awareness-themed-p-196432" target="_blank"><u><strong>READ: Cherry Pie Picache stars in HIV awareness-themed play ‘Under My Skin’​</strong></u></a></div><p><em>A Game Of Trolls</em> is the story of Heck, a paid troll who works for Bimbam, the manager of a “troll center” that runs an online pro-martial law campaign. Because of his reckless actions, ghosts of Martial Law victims start to haunt him and these eerie encounters force him to reflect on his own beliefs and his relationship with his mother who was also an activist from that time. Now even more, is a critical time to use theater as a vehicle for introspection and truth-telling, to use theater as a beacon of truth!” PETA Executive Director Beng Cabangon said.</p><p>“In our 50-year history, we have always stood for democracy. As artists, we owe it to the next generation to tell these narratives so that the lessons learned are ingrained in their hearts and so that all Filipinos, especially the young.
