Kathryn Bernardo reveals why she accepted ‘2 Good 2 Be True’: ‘Sign na yun sa akin ng universe!’

When she first got offered the chance to do a new project this year, Kathryn Bernardo shared what was the biggest selling point for her about 2 Good 2 Be True aside from being paired with her real-life boyfriend and love team partner Daniel Padilla.“I got excited when they told us if ever tito Ronaldo Valdez would accept this project kasi siya yung magiging yung lolo. Nung sinabi yun sabi ko, ‘Oh my God I want to do this!’ Kasi it’s not just a love story yung 2 Good 2 Be True. Very relevant yung story. Maraming ma-ta-tackle na hindi natin alam nangyayari sa ibang tao. So nung nalaman namin na in-accept na ni tito Ron parang sign na yun sa akin ng universe na I think I should do this. Kasi gusto namin ng rom-com, binigay rom-com. We wanted direk Mae (Cruz-Alviar), binigay si direk Mae, and then tito Ron nag-yes siya. So walang reason to say no to this. So after how many presentations, ito yung napili naming project kasi this is our first rom-com pa lang na TV series and I think pareho naming gusto na magpasaya ng tao, magpatawa para just to break sa lahat ng mangyayari ngayon. That’s why we picked this.“And then when it comes to script, I think magandang teamwork kasi pag ganun na very honest and transparent kami kay direk and everyone kung ano yung na-fi-feel namin sa script. So we’re very lucky na binigyan kami ng karapatan to say that and hindi lahat nabibigyan ng ganun. Masasabi talaga namin na so far sa lahat ng nakunan, sa lahat ng mga gagawin pa namin in the coming weeks, we’re very happy with what we did and walang script na puwede na. Lahat yun, gusto namin siya wholeheartedly. “So thanks to the whole production talaga and especially the writers kasi sila yung nagtiyaga na kahit ilang revisions. Iba yung alaga din nila. Kasi siyempre, hindi ko sinasabi na nawawala yung kilig. Of course the love is there. It gets deeper. Nag-ma-mature. Pero iba siyempre yung kilig namin like nine years ago, ten years ago ni DJ. Iba yung nararamdaman namin ngayon so yan ang challenge every scene especially kay direk Mae, sa writer namin, ano pa yung hindi namin nagawa na kilig na puwede naming ma-offer dito. So it’s really challenging.“Kasi siyempre as a person and real life couple, nag-iiba lahat but hindi ibig sabihin nun nababawasan na yung love. It’s just that ang hirap ihiwalay nung personal kapag nakikita mo sa characters namin onscreen. So yan parati ang challenge every time gumagawa kami ng project. So siguro diyan pumapasok si direk Mae (laughs). Siya talaga yung nahihirapan na kung paano siya baliin. And kami din ni DJ yun yung pinaka challenging sa lahat, kung anong bagong ma-o-offer. Kasi yung character ni Ally, she’s very protective, guarded siyang klase ng babae, and with her experiences with her mom may tendency talaga na may trust issues siya especially sa guys. And then maybe kung kausap ko siya sasabihin ko na just give chance kasi hindi naman lahat ng tao masama. There’s still goodness in this world. Meron pa ring mabubuting tao and you just have to give that chance. I would tell her that,” she added.
