Now that his latest Vivamax film Habangbuhay with leading lady Elisse Joson is streaming online, McCoy De Leon revealed that doing their dramatic scenes together has got him nostalgic about his real-life challenges as well. In Habangbuhay, McCoy plays a simple houseboy who falls for the daughter of the family he works for, a woman named Bea (Elisse) who is diagnosed with a condition called Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID) that has made her mother Lily (played by Yayo Aguila) overly protective of her all her life.

In his latest Instagram post, McCoy uploaded a still shot from the film of him and Elisse sharing an emotional moment. The 27-year-old actor revealed why Habangbuhay is very close to his heart because of a medical condition he was diagnosed with when the pandemic was just starting in the country.

“Naalala ko nung tinamaan ako ng sakit na hindi ko alam na meron pala ako. Nung taong 2020 na-diagnose ako ng depression. Nakangiti ako pero sa loob ko hindi kinakaya yung mga bagay na pinagdadaanan. Naalala ko rin naisama ko pa nga sa isang short film kung ano itsura ko nun. Gantong oras din yun 4:40 am kaya hindi ko makakalimutan yun hanggang sa inumaga ako at hindi nakatulog. Bigla nalang ako yuyuko, naiiyak at malapit nang sumuko.”

Hindi man parehas ang sakit na meron sa pelikulang ito… Pero parehas na tao ang nasandalan ko noon siya ang naging gamot ko, sinamahan niya ako magpadoktor, binilhan niya ako ng pusa na sinasabing makakatulong daw ito higit sa lahat nilapit niya ako sa Diyos lalo lahat ng way naging lunas sa sakit ko noon. Kaya laking pasasalamat ko sa taong ito.

McCoy and Elisse first started dating after their stint as housemates in Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky Season 7. They announced their breakup in 2018 but confirmed they had gotten back together last year and revealed they are now proud parents to their baby daughter Felize last October.
