After a decade of being paired together onscreen, Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo continue to make their fans happy with their latest romantic series 2 Good 2 Be True. Longtime KathNiel follower or not, there are many other reasons not to miss out on their latest show. Apart from the series being available on more platforms online, here’s our top five reasons 2 Good 2 Be True is not your average run-of-the-mill teleserye.

1. It’s a refreshing new cast

Providing major support to DJ and Kath in the series are acting veterans Ronaldo Valdez, Bodjie Pascua, Irma Adlawan, Gelli De Belen, Cris Villanueva, and Romnick Sarmenta who are all immediately introduced in the initial episode. Gillian Vicencio shows off her boyish new look as part of DJ’s group of good hearted friends along with Matt Evans and Yves Flores.

With an ensemble cast this talented, you can expect the series to have a deep well of interesting back stories and twists for their characters.

2. The pacing of the storyline looks promising

If 2 Good 2 Be True’s premiere episode is any indication, the pace of the storytelling in this series shows promise in not dragging out too many unnecessary scenes and keeps the viewers on their toes guessing what lead characters Eloy and Ali plan to do next.

From the opening scene, all is already not what it initially seems when we see them first cross paths at a hotel with different goals in mind. Eloy (DJ) manages to scam a hotel owner out of a sum of money which turns out to be for reasons more honorable than everyone thinks. Ali (Kath) is determined to prove Eloy is a criminal and the two continue to cross paths despite their initial friction with each other.

3. DJ and Kathryn’s (more than) ten years of acting experience is obvious here

Having been in showbiz for more than a decade and being paired together for over ten years has obviously worked in DJ and Kath’s favor as they easily slip into their latest characters’ shoes with an ease that has only gotten noticeably better through time and experience. After making so many romantic TV series and movies together, DJ and Kath prove they have become chameleons onscreen as viewers find themselves being getting more and more engrossed in Eloy and Ali’s story.

As for the physical changes onscreen, having curly hair gives Kath’s character Ali an always upbeat and independent vibe while DJ’s has also undeniably grown as an actor and in it shows in how he portrays Eloy’s inner confidence with restraint and flair.

4. The show has some serious K-drama vibes

2 Good 2 Be True has all the makings of a successful project. A tried and tested love team, a brilliant supporting cast, a local and international audience hungry for interesting content, but most importantly, this show has a compelling storyline that will keep you wanting to see more in every new episode.

Perhaps veering away from the pace of traditional Pinoy teleseryes in the past where a storyline is confined to just one genre, the viewers get to enjoy not only romance and drama but also a mix of comedy, action, and maybe even some thrill through lead characters Eloy and Ali’s life stories.

2 Good 2 Be True’s faster paced storytelling (reminiscent of the Korean and Japanese drama formats) will also get the approval of younger audiences whose attention span has been used to consuming content from platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and kumu these past two years. Another similarity to K-dramas are the montage of scenes at the end of each episode, giving a sneak peek of what you can expect to happen to the characters.

5. KathNiel gives more than just the usual ‘kilig’ here

The truth is, you don’t have to be a hardcore KathNiel fan to enjoy this series. In fact, you don’t have to be a big fan of romantic dramas to even appreciate it. At the core of it all, with each new episode, 2 Good 2 Be True is proving to be a highly entertaining story that can appeal to all kinds of audiences. As the complicated layers of each character is revealed in each episode, expect to find yourself looking forward to more than just DJ and Kath’s romantic and kilig-filled scenes, but also to the funny, exciting, and unpredictable scenes between them as well.
