Known for his good looks and superb acting, actor Kim Min-Kyu revealed in a recent interview with South Korean show Radio Star, that he was a former idol trainee.

“I trained to become a singer for a very short period of time. To become a member of a group,” Kim Min-kyu revealed.

He was then asked by the hosts of the show if the boy group he’s been training with is a famous boy group. At first, the Korean actor didn’t give the name of the boy group as he was reluctant to do so. However, he later then went on to disclose the Korean idols that could have been his fellow members.

“I don’t know if I would have necessarily been in that group, but there are people that I trained together with. They’re SEVENTEEN,” he shyly answered.

SEVENTEEN is a South Korean boy band that is composed of 13 members and formed by the entertainment label, PLEDIS Entertainment back in 2015.

The 27-year-old actor explained that he was only a trainee for a month and he felt like it wasn’t for him. Instead, he pursued his acting career and went on to be part of some of the K-Drama hits such as Business Proposal and Queen: Love and War.

“I wasn’t extremely good at singing to the extent of becoming a singer, and I’m really bad at dancing. I also had a thirst for acting that never went away,” he elaborated.

Even though he didn’t pursue the Korean idol path, Kim Min-kyu participated in the Korean Game Show, I Can See Your Voice, back in 2017 wherein he was able to show off his singing abilities.

After hitting it big with Business Proposal wherein he played the role of Secretary Cha Sung-hoon, the actor recently got a lead role in the Korean fantasy drama, High Priest Rembrary, that is set to air in the first half of 2023. Kim Min-kyu will be playing the role of Woo Yeon-woo, an unknown handsome idol.
