<p>As one of the two directors behind the top-rated primetime series <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/tbmv2022"><strong><u><i>The Broken Marriage Vow</i></u></strong></a>, Andoy Ranay said there were a lot of things to look forward to in the show even before they started their lock-in taping cycles in Baguio City last year. With the show being the Philippine adaptation of the hit 2015 British drama series <i>Doctor Foster</i> and 2020 South Korean blockbuster drama <i>The World of the Married</i>, direk Andoy said he was Maria</u></strong></a></div><p>“The most exciting part talaga ay yung pagkuwento mo bilang isang Pinoy fillmmaker. Dahil adaptation ito, ayaw mo siya gayahin. Ayaw mong gayahin yung mga versions na napanuod mo because hindi naman talaga puwedeng maging ganun eh. Kasi iba yung kultura nila, iba yung nuances nung mga artista.</p><p>“And also, the most exciting part really is this bunch of amazing, multi-talented actors na hindi na talaga kami nahirapan to direct them because they know to begin with kung ano yung mga characters nila, kung ano yung mga scenes na gagawin nila.</p><p>“Because we did this at the height of the pandemic and it was so difficult for us as filmmakers na i-workshop pa sila o sabihin pa sa kanila kung ano yung mga susunod na mga scenes to guide them. Sila na mismo meron silang mga ambag para mapaganda yung ginagawa naming project. Sa akin mas yun eh. Kung dati ang inaabangan ng mga Pilipino ay yung sampalan, dito wala ka namang makikitang nagsampalan, nagsabunutan na confrontation. Wala namang mga ganun eh.</p><p>“But as a filmmaker o gumagawa ng mga teleserye, naiangat na natin at this point kung paano tayo nagkukuwento ng teleserye via a global brand that is <i>Doctor Foster</i>. So pagdating ngayon nakaka-stress din at nakaka-pressure din para sa susunod kasi kailangan mas maganda na dito or parang hindi na tayo puwede bumalik sa dati for us to compete globally and also to be recognized as well sa digital platform all over the world. Para hindi lang tayo sa buong Pilipinas lang, madami pa tayong audience na kailangan maabot.
