Julia Barretto did not let Matteo Guidicelli easily get away after bringing up her past with Joshua Garcia as well as Gerald Anderson’s infamous “ghosting” controversy on live television.

During Julia’s guest appearance for the morning variety show Lunch Out Loud (LOL) to promote her film with Carlo Aquino, a question related to her former on and offscreen partner Joshua Garcia popped up.

The said question was about a famous actor who is currently getting linked to vlogger Bella Racelis.

Matteo then brought up Joshua’s name but realized it might have been a sensitive topic.

“Di ba ‘yung pangalang Joshua Garcia medyo malagkit. Sensitive na,” Matteo said.

To which Julia responded with: “Huy hindi. Hindi ako sensitive, Matty. Ku-correct ko lang.”

Following Julia’s response, Matteo went on to ask a question related to Joshua and Julia’s past.

“Kumbaga putol na?” Matteo asked.

Julia then answered by saying it’s important to let go of the past and move forward without bitterness.

“Eh kasi siyempre kapag past ni-lelet go mo ‘yan with grace at gratefulness. So dapat ‘pag binabalikan mo ‘yan, walang bitterness. Tsaka diba dapat magkakaibigan lang,” she said.

“Kumbaga, bahala na siya sa buhay niya,” Matteo answered back.

“Kumbaga kung saan siya masaya, dun tayo masaya. Tsaka same with Diego, Alden, Donny. Kung saan sila lahat masaya. Happy for you guys,” Julia said, referring to the rest of the choices from the given question.

Seemingly unaware about the issue, Julia went to look for reactions from the other hosts of the show.

Julia then said: “Medyo kailangan ko nang help. Madali lang?” she said. She went on to mention all the choices, getting the most apparent response after uttering Joshua’s name.

“Si Josh? Sobrang obvious naman ng sagot. Sige let’s go with Josh kasi parang ma-like naman din siyang tao,” she said, chuckling.

Referring to Joshua’s rumored relationship with Bella, Matteo asked Julia if she approves of them as a couple.

“Approve ka ba sa kanila? Nahuli sila sa BGC nag-hoholding hands sila. May picture tayo. Mga paparazzi ng Tropang LOL, nahuli siya,” Matteo said as photos of the two were flashed on the LED screen.

“Awww. That’s nice. Good for both of them. Masaya tayo para sa kanila. Approved,” Julia said.

Matteo, for some reason, said he found out Joshua messages Julia to seek her approval on whomever he is dating.

“Balita namin nag-text din siya kung approved ba o hindi, ‘di ba? Totoo ba ‘yun?” Matteo asked.

Wacky Kiray and Jeffrey Tam then called out Matteo for supposedly creating an issue, warning him of possibly making it to news headlines.

Julia seemed to have just taken Matteo’s statement lightly, saying: “Nagtext daw tinanong kung approved. Ano ako, nanay niya?”

During the same segment, Julia apologized on behalf of Matteo, saying: “Sorry sa mga nababanggit na pangalan, ha. We’re so out of your business.” Matteo then responded by saying: “Okay lang ‘yan.”

Matteo, out of the blue, brought up Julia’s current boyfriend Gerald Anderson’s name and referenced the controversial breakup of Bea Alonzo with the latter.

“‘Di ba Gerald Anderson defined the word ghosting?” Matteo asked.

But the question seemed to have made Julia a bit uncomfortable, eventually bringing up Matteo’s past.

“It’s not the first time I heard it ha. You know why? The first time I heard that word actually may nagkwento sa akin about Matteo Guidicelli.”

Matteo appeared to have been caught off guard, saying he does not remember ghosting anyone.

“Nakalimutan ko na. Memory gap yata tawag dun,” he said, laughing.

“Actually nakalimutan ko pero binalik mo. ‘Wag na natin i-mention sino ginanun mo,” Julia said.

While Julia did not mention any names, netizens believe the actress was referring to Jessy Mendiola.

Matteo is married to Sarah Geronimo.

Matteo issued an apology in the September 7 episode of Tropang LOL, saying his actions were a spur of the moment.
