After launching her YouTube channel, veteran actress Maricel Soriano has been sharing more of her life behind the camera with videos showing a lighter side of the country’s Diamond star. In her vlog posted last September 10, Maricel shared what happened when she visited the studio of actress Ciara Sotto who is also a pole dancer and teacher.

In her vlog posted last September 10, Maricel shared what happened when she visited the studio of actress Ciara Sotto who is also a pole dancer and teacher.
On her self-titled YouTube channel, Maricel wrote the caption for her vlog addressing her followers whom she lovingly refers to as “anak”. “Mga anak! Mag po-pole dancing naman ang Inay nyo ngayon. Nako basta para sa inyo, ieexplore ko ang lahat mapasaya lang ang mga anak ko. O tara, panoorin na natin ang new vlog na ito.”

Before starting the lesson, the 57-year-old actress admitted her hesitation trying out the new sport, but Ciara comforted her by reminding her about her dancing roots. During her younger years, Maricel was also known as a dancing queen who made popular her moves while dancing to popular ‘80s songs like “Body Dancer” and “Rico Mambo”.

In the vlog, Maricel referred to her body type as “payat pero may bilbil naman.” To which Ciara said, “Every body of a woman is beautiful. Pag nag-po-pole dancing kayo, hindi kami nagpapa-sexy. Kailangan lang talaga, kita ang balat para dumikit sa pole. Strong women tayo, fearless women, so kaya natin ito.”

The pair started the workout with a warm up that included some stretching followed by some beginner drills. While teaching the Diamond Star, Ciara also shared how she got started into pole dancing while living in the US.

“Kasi nung nakatira ako sa (Las) Vegas, meron kaming weight requirement nung may show kami. Sabi nila hindi ka puwede tumaba kasi babawasan yung suweldo mo. So sabi ko kailangan ko na mag-workout. Hindi ako nag-wo-workout dati eh. So naghanap ako ng workout sa isa sa mga dance studios dun sa Las Vegas tapos nakita ko may workout na pole dancing. Sabi ko, ‘Ay, heto na lang!’ Kasi tamad na tamad ako mag-gym, mag-treadmill. Tamad na tamad talaga ako. So pole dancing will increase your flexibility, tone your muscles, and help with your endurance and stamina. Tapos it will strengthen your core, whether you like it or not,” she shared.

Pero siyempre, ito ang masasabi ko, kailangan talaga sa bawat bagay na gusto natin, kailangan talaga gustong gusto mo ang gagawin mo. Kahit sa trabaho, dapat masaya ka pag nagtatrabaho ka. Dapat gusto mo ang ginagawa mo. Importante yun di ba?”
