When she turned 20 earlier this month, actress Kyline Alcantara shared how she made sure her pet dog Bumbum was part of the whole celebration.

“Okay naman. Actually with Bumbum din siya. Namili talaga kami ng place na puwede yung pet na meron sa Laguna. So andun siya and naka-dress siya and ang saya kasi it was really intimate. I celebrated my birthday the way I wanted to celebrate my birthday which is intimate, lahat talaga ng close friends ko and family,” she shared.

“Ang sarap and may pa-surprise pa ang nag-iisang Maverick Legaspi (laughs). Back story, nung nanunuod kami ng La La Land, and parang siyang may pagka old vibe siya. So sabi ko, ‘Oh my gosh, alam mo kung anong regalo ko sa sarili ko ngayong birthday ko? Old VHS cam.’ Pero hindi ako nagpaparinig sa kanya ha. Rinegaluhan niya ako ng old VHS cam and then rinegaluhan din niya ako ng necklace. So yun. May pa-flowers. And it wasn’t just me that was happy, also my family kasi nagkaroon sila ng time na makipag-bond with Mav. Especially my brothers.”

When not busy with work, Kyline revealed that she is usually in her family home spending time with her dog Bumbum.

“Yung happiest moment ko as a fur mom yung first night niya dito sa house and first time naming magkatabing dalawa. Even though ginigising niya ako from time to time, ang sarap sa pakiramdam na inaalagaan ako. Ang sarap din sa pakiramdam kapag nag-wa-wag yung tail niya. Nagkaroon ng connection and mas naging comfortable kami sa isa’t isa first night pa lang. So for me that’s the happiest moment,” she shared during the launch of Pedigree’s new pet treats Denta Stix Chewy Chunx and Good Chew.

“It is really a big responsibility. Siguro nung time na pinakita sa akin ni kuya Rocco Nacino kung gaano niya ka-love yung mga dogs and kung gaano siya ka-love ng mga dogs niya and I want to feel that kind of love also. And I want to take care of an animal also.

So yun na siguro yung time na sinabi kong, ‘I’m ready.’ And hindi lang naman ako yung ready, even my parents. Because I knew that I’m going to have a busy schedule. At least sila I’m happy din na in-accept nila kasi kung wala sila siguro hindi ako mag-a-adopt ng dog. So I’m grateful for them,” she recalled.
“Kasi may time na nagkasama kami sa isang mall show and then pinakita niya kung paano niya inaalagaan, kung anong nagbibigay sa kanila ng happiness. So yun na siguro yung time na sinabi kong, ‘I’m ready.’ And hindi lang naman ako yung ready, even my parents. Because I knew that I’m going to have a busy schedule. At least sila I’m happy din na in-accept nila kasi kung wala sila siguro hindi ako mag-a-adopt ng dog. So I’m grateful for them,” she recalled.

“Dogs can’t talk, they can only bark. So ang na-realize ko is you really need to observe your dogs and kung ano yung gusto nila at hindi nila gusto. For example, with treats, may ibang treats na hindi talaga nila gusto at parang may side effects sa kanila. With Pedigree naging tama lahat, mas naging healthy si Bumbum, mas naging strong yung gums niya. You really need to read the labels because that’s very, very important so I do it all the time

So kahit pagod ako, wala akong choice kundi ilaro si Bumbum.

“Masama man pero I’m the one spoiling my dog. Ako yung kapag pinapagalitan na siya, sa akin siya lumalapit because she knows that I will defend her. Having her made me responsible and organized and more disciplined when it comes to taking care of something or someone or a dog. And na-apply ko din siya sa personal life ko, sa work ko so nagkaroon talaga ng big change,” she added.
