PIE channel launches new hybrid reality show ‘The Chosen One’ with Melai Cantiveros

<p>After its launch last May, ABS-CBN’s free-to-air channel along with Kroma Entertainment and 917Ventures, in partnership with Broadcast Enterprises and Affiliated Media, continues to come out with new and exciting shows for Filipino audiences. This month, they launched their first hybrid narrative-reality show called<em> The Chosen One: Ang Piliserye ng Bayan.</em></p><p>The show stars Melai Cantiveros as the host and is directed by award-winning director and cinematographer Topel Lee. “<em>’The Chosen One’ </em>has a ‘choose your own adventure’ style that’s why it is called a ‘piliserye.’ The viewers get to play god sa ‘piliserye.’ Ikaw ang magde-decide kung saan pupunta ang kwento. will be selected via randomizer to win P1,000. The show’s pilot episode last September 24 featured a suspense thriller series called “Soap Opera” that follows a woman named Charlie (played by Kaila Estrada) who signs up for a shady networking group called Astra Nuevo fronted by a Miss Jane (played by Melai). In Astra Nuevo, Charlie meets a group of ten aspiring entrepreneurs from different walks of life who share her dream of gaining financial freedom. show</strong></u></a></div><p>Joining Kaila in the hybrid narrative-reality series are former Pinoy Big Brother housemates Andi Abaya (Rachel), Amanda Zamora (Julie), Dustin Mayores (Jason), Gabb Skribikin (Cheska), Kobie Brown (Peter), Luke Alford (Kiko), Maxine Trinidad (Emma), Rob Blackburn (Joe), Seham Daghlas (Paula), and Zach Guerrero (Mike) who will act as players in the show or the characters that will be voted by viewers. In “Soap Opera,” Kaila is a non-player. She won’t be part of the 10 characters that are up for voting each week. Other non-players in the series are PBB Otso housemate Emjay Savilla and film and theater actress and host Sunshine Teodoro.</p><p>Watch<em> The Chosen One </em>every Saturday (8 to 10 pm), as it airs live episodes of “Soap Opera” so chosen mentor Jhong Hilario can dissect and rate each player’s performance in the narrative. It will also reveal the current standing of the players based on the audience votes.</p><p>In the show’s next episode this coming October 1, Saturday, things get even more exciting as <em>The Chosen One</em> reveals who among the 10 players garnered the highest number of saving votes and who are in the bottom two. During the show’s primer, Melai shared that viewers will get to see a different side of her both as host and actor.</p><p>“First time ko na ganitong storya. Kasi ako naman nag-ho-horror, pero may sundot na comedy. Dito parang may pagka-serious talaga. Sobrang honored ako na kasama ko si Kuys Jhong. Talagang magkakaroon kami ng tawanan and banters. Sobrang happy din ako kasi yan ang sample king,” she shared. </p><p><em>The Chosen One</em> cast members like Jhong are also excited to show a different side of them this time onscreen. “Siyempre dahil suspense thriller itong piliserye natin, gusto kong matakot sa acting nila. Gusto kong tumayo ‘yung mga balahibo ko dahil alam ko kapag natakot ako, ‘yung mga manonood sa kanila, matatakot din,” Jhong admitted. </p><p>After working on her first thriller series, Kaila Estrada said she wanted to give another standout performance just like her work on Viral Scandal earlier this year. “Challenge ito because first time ko gumawa ng show na thriller ‘yung theme. I keep in my mind na I want to give it the best performance that I can give, something that even I would want to watch,” she explained.</p><p>Aside from <em>The Chosen One</em>, PIE channel also has a lineup of new shows for more exciting entertainment daily.
