Pinoy folk-pop band Ben&Ben had to cancel their much-awaited send-off concert last month, which was supposed to kick off their international tour.

Last Saturday, September 3, Ben&Ben decided to move their show just a few hours before the schedule due to the worsening weather conditions brought about by typhoon Hinnamnow which first entered the country on August 31.

The group released a statement on their official Instagram account, writing: “It breaks our hearts to announce that due to the terrible weather conditions, the Ben&Ben Send-Off concert will be rescheduled to a later date.”

The sudden heavy downpour of rain, strong winds, and impending flooding around the area posed potential safety hazards for everyone who will attend.

“Safety is our top priority and we carefully made this decision along with Ovation Productions, our official event producer. More details soon. Be safe, everyone.”

The concert, which was first announced last month, had already sold more than 43,000 tickets and was supposed to be held at the CCP Open Grounds in Manila. Concert director Paolo Valenciano posted videos of the damage done to the outdoor venue due to the sudden downpour that same afternoon.

Ben&Ben recently released their newest single “The Ones We Once Loved” just last month. The song, which talks about finding closure in love, received one million download streams in just three days since its release.

Details for the rescheduled date of the send-off concert have yet to be announced as of this writing.
