After making her first appearance as the new Malacañang press briefer last December, lifestyle host and journalist Daphne Oseña-Paez shared her first post on social media officially sharing her experience with her new appointment.

In her Instagram post last January 11, she wrote, “A few weeks into my new job and I just had a moment to ponder on the timing of it all. As the decorations in the palace were starting to be packed away I wanted one more photo at the historic staircase, so that I could also pack up this special season in my memories. It’s been incredible so far. With gratitude and humility, Daphne.”

As a press briefer, Daphne will become the regular source of updates from Malacañang and will communicate the message of the President, the Cabinet, and the government  through weekly briefings held after Cabinet meetings. Last September, Daphne shared one of the first events she attended with the new administration. She wrote, “I hosted the National Greening Program launch with President Bongbong Marcos in attendance in San Mateo Rizal yesterday. It was also his 65th birthday.

“I look forward to more greening programs - reforestation, rehabilitation, urban greening - using Philippine native trees and plants. Thank you DILG Philippines for inviting me. It was also great to meet the Sec of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and hear about the programs she is planning.

“At yesterday's program, PBBM planted a Kawayan Tinik, a common bamboo. Though bamboo plants are not trees, they are grass, they help prevent landslides and erosion. They can also help rehabilitate the soil - especially since that area was a landfill site. The DILG program aims to include different varieties of trees as well.

“Folks, we can all make a difference in our locality. Plant native trees, cultivate them, donate them (or sell them if you want). Celebrate milestones by planting a tree. Just like BBM, who spent his birthday morning planting bamboo and encouraging the planting of trees. Mabuhay ka, BBM. Mabuhay tayong lahat🌳🌳”

Daphne started out her career in the country as a news reporter and TV host on ABS-CBN in 1997. She was also a weather presenter of The World Tonight, the late night English newscast from 1996 until 1999. She hosted the lifestyle show F! along with co-hosts Angel Aquino and Cher Calvin during the show’s almost seven-year run until 2006.

Daphne married ABS-CBN journalist and host Patrick Paez in 2002. The couple have three daughters named Sophia, Stella, and Lily.
