Pinay teen Zoe Gabriel on learnings after viral ‘luxury bag’ TikTok video

<p>Singapore-based Filipino teenager Zoe Gabriel shared her realizations after going viral on TikTok because of a bag.</p><p>When Zoe received an S$80 Charles and Keith tote bag and described it as her first &quot;luxury bag&quot; on TikTok, she started receiving negative comments on the platform.</p><p>In an interview with ANC&#x27;s <em>Headstart</em>, the Pinay teenager was asked about how she dealt with the said criticisms.</p><p>&quot;I&#x27;m still dealing with it honestly but the way that I ground myself is I try to spend as much time with my family as possible and focus on all the good things that I have instead of all the negative comments that have been appearing,&quot; she stated.</p><p>On why she considered the tote bag a luxury bag, Zoe pointed out that she did not come from a rich family so any money spent is a luxury for her.</p><div><iframe width="1899" height="701" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tr841ViJ_N4" title="SG-based Pinay teen shares learnings after &#x27;luxury bag&#x27; clip went viral | ANC" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>&quot;We weren’t well off. Eighty dollars was a really big value to me so that’s, at first, why I considered it a luxury bag,&quot; explained.</p><p>Through the experience, Zoe highlighted that she learned how luxury differs for every person.</p><p>&quot;As this whole situation started to progress and I reflected and looked back, I also learned that luxury does mean different things to other people,&quot; she remarked.</p><p>&quot;One of the things that I learned from other people is that luxury can also mean privilege—something that you’re privileged to have,&quot; she added.</p><p>Zoe further shared that another lesson she realized is to &quot;find joy in the journey.&quot;</p><p>&quot;That’s what my parents always say. You just can&#x27;t see them but they still have real feelings. We should just be careful and be kind.&quot;</p><p>Zoe was born in Manila and moved to Singapore at the age of four. Her father works as a mechanical engineer in &quot;The Lion City&quot; while her mom is a housewife.
