The actress shared the news of her engagement with photos of her fiancé’s romantic proposal, which she captioned with a Bible verse.</p><p>“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’ Jeremiah 29:11 NLT,” LJ wrote.</p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2023/5/30/lj-reyes-is-engaged-931"><strong>READ: LJ Reyes is engaged</strong></a></div><p>The engagement came over a year after LJ split from her partner of six years, Paolo Contis. The two share a daughter, Summer, who turned three years old last January.</p><p>At the height of the controversy surrounding their breakup, LJ moved to New York with Summer and her eldest child, Aki (from her previous relationship with Paulo Avelino). In an interview, actress cited the reason for their move as a way to “mentally and emotionally recover as a family.”</p><p>Last year, LJ admitted that she was still in the process of healing from her split with Paolo.</p><p>&quot;There are days that I find it difficult to...ang hirap nito. Okay, nandito kayo ng mga bata. Kailangan kayanin mo. Halos minu-minuto akong nagdadasal. If not, may mga araw na I don&#x27;t feel okay,” she said.</p><p>“It will be a very long journey, a difficult one. Pero, kumakapit na ako sa Diyos... Pinagdadasal ko na mapatawad ko siya kasi I know if I don&#x27;t forgive him, this very dark emotion will eat me up. And I won&#x27;t be able to move on with my kids nang maayos. &#x27;Yung walang galit. May pain, hindi mawawala yun,” she added.</p><p>Paolo is now in a relationship with his <em>A Faraway Land</em> co-star Yen Santos. The actor expressed his happiness for LJ following news of her surprise engagement.</p><p>“Of course I am very happy for her, very happy. Nabalitaan ko on the way na ako sa shoot. Feeling ko naman hindi ako &#x27;yung dapat ano... Siyempre naiintindihan ko na kukunan ako ng reaksyon pero again I am very, very happy for her,” he said.</p>
