Kiawentiio Tarbell will be playing Aang’s best friend and the waterbenderKatara and actor Ian Ousley who will portray Katara’s brother Sokka. The first look for Prince Zuko was already shown as well.

The series will also be executive produced by Jabbar Raisani, Dan Lin, and Lindsey Liberatore of Rideback, and Michael Goi. Raisani and Goi will also serve as the series director with Jet Wilkins and Roseanne Liang who will also be the co-executive producer.

According to IGN Southeast Asia, the adaptation based on the animated series follows the airbender Aang who aims to fulfill his destiny as the Avatar, master of the four elements of water, earth, fire, and air. On his journey, he will meet \siblings Katara and Sokka. The trio travel to the Northern Water Tribe to find Aang a waterbender teacher while being pursued by the Fire Nation's Prince Zuko, who must capture the Avatar to regain his honor.

Based on the reports, the cast and crew started filming in November 2021 in a new, custom-built facility in Canada and the production will use the same technology as Disney’s The Mandalorian in the state-of-the-art studio.

Similar to how the popular Japanese anime One Piece was adapted into a live action series by Netflix, the first season for Avatar: The Last Airbender is presumably cut to eight one-hour-long episodes.

The much-anticipated live-action adaptation of the series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, is expected to be released by Netflix in 2024.
