Maxene Magalona took to social media to share a throwback clip of a precious moment between her and her late father, rapper Francis M, amid controversy and speculation surrounding their family.

The clip, posted on Instagram, shows a younger Maxene inside a car with Francis M, who was driving while doing a freestyle rap for his daughter.

“Rest in peace Papa. Thank you for sending this to me, @i_am_zeey,” Maxene wrote in the caption.

Earlier, Maxene also remembered her late father on what would’ve been Francis M’s 59th birthday last October 4.

In a tribute post on Instagram, the actress listed some of the most important life lessons she learned from her dad, who passed away on March 6, 2009 after battling cancer. He was 44 years old.

“1. Treat everyone equally with respect. He didn’t discriminate against others and spoke to the people around him respectfully no matter what background they come from.

2. Don’t judge other people’s life choices. 

3. Being a celebrity doesn’t make you more important than others. 

4. Work on becoming an instrument of peace. 

5. Love your family to the best of your ability. Admittedly, he was not perfect as he would unconsciously project his own traumas on to us when he was much younger which was understandable given that he had us at the age of 21. Despite his shortcomings as a father, I could always feel that his love for us was very deep and genuine. He was my role model for love.

“6. Never let anything or anyone stop you from making your dreams come true. Papa was a true artist. He wasn’t just a musician—he was also an actor, a breakdancer, TV host, photographer, music video director, painter and pizza baker! He even shot photos for the Camera Club of The Philippines while battling cancer. His life truly was one big Happy Battle.

7. Never trade your authenticity for approval. He was always his genuine and authentic self—simple, real, down to earth and kind despite his iconic status. He expressed his soul fearlessly and did not give a rat’s ass about what people thought of him. 

8. Let go and let God. This was one of the things he said to me when I was asking him for advice.”

Aside from Maxene, Francis and his wife Pia have five more children, namely, Frank, Saab, Elmo, Arkin, and Clara. Pia also has two kids from a previous relationship — Unna and Nicolo.

Francis and his family are now at the center of controversy after former flight attendant Abegail Rait claimed that she had a secret relationship and a love child with the late rapper. She made the revelation in an episode of the YouTube series Pinoy Pawnstars that aired on October 19, where — together with her daughter Gaile Francesca — sold a jersey that was given to her by Francis M.

“For 15 years nanahimik ako. I didn’t say anything about me and my daughter. Siguro naman ito na lang ‘yung karapatan na pwede kong magawa para sa kanya. Kasi hindi naman ako nagsalita eh,” Abegail said during the interviw.

“I know people will judge me. But we exist. What we had was real. Me and my daughter exist. Mahal niya kami, and that’s a fact,” she added.

Both Pia and her children with Francis M have yet to speak up on the matter as of this writing.
