Gladys Reyes remembers her biggest break at ABS-CBN

<p>It’s been more than three decades since she first got her biggest break in her acting career as one of the stars of the iconic ABS-CBN soap <em>Mara Clara </em>and actress Gladys Reyes said she will always be grateful to the Kapamilya network for giving her that life-changing opportunity.</p><p>This year, the talented actress attended the ABS-CBN Ball alongside her husband (and <em>Mara Clara </em>co-star Christopher Roxas).</p><div><span style="background-color:transparent">“It’s our first time actually. And tamang tama naman because of the theme ‘Forever Grateful’ because we are forever grateful to God for using ABS-CBN as an instrument for, of course first <em>Mara Clara</em>, where we were given the memorable break of our career, and of course where I met my husband now, Christopher. And yan nga, ngayon hanggang sa may family na kami. I am proud naman na I am the person that they loved to hate (laughs),” she said.</p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2020/7/8/fresh-scoops/gladys-reyes-and-husband-christopher-roxas-open-a-27950"><strong>READ: Gladys Reyes and husband Christopher Roxas open a catering business amidst the pandemic</strong></a></div><p>Gladys and Christopher, who are also restaurant owners, also decided to expand and open a catering business during the pandemic which was actually not a big problem for the hard-working couple.  </p><p>“Actually the pandemic was a blessing to us. Maganda yung progression ng buhay namin. May struggles pero okay naman lahat,” Christopher shared during their red carpet interview with PUSH.</p><p>Gladys also talked about their latest food business venture this year and how they are helping empower more people with job opportunities in the south.</p><p>“Siguro in every challenge, there’s also an opportunity. So kami, we were given the chance na mas ma-improve yung aming business and now we have this That’s Diner in Laguna where we’re giving opportunities also for those people who would like to put up their own food business, most especially OFWs. After acting, Christopher started out working in the food industry in Monaco and Japan before returning to the Philippines to study culinary arts at the International School for Culinary Arts and Hotel Management International (ISCAHM).</p><p>“The diner was all Christopher’s idea. We have our commissary now and I’m very proud na he won bronze from WOFEX, sa Philippine Culinary Cup. It was along with mga culinary experts from different hotels. I am really proud of my husband,” she said.</p><p>Gladys and Christopher first met as young teens on the set <em>Mara Clara </em>which aired from 1992 to 1997. After 11 years of dating, they got married in 2004. Then couple now have four children, a daughter named Aquisha and three sons named Gian, Grant, and Gavin. They will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in January.</p>
