Streaming giant Netflix has released the official teaser for the live-action adaptation of the hit animation series Avatar: The Last Airbender.

According to Netflix, the series will follow the story of the four nations of the world that once "lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world."

The teaser shows a preview of the four nations in chaos and a young Air Nomad named Aang who is awakened and who embarks on a quest with his friends to be the next Avatar.

"Time is a funny thing. The past, the future, it all gets mixed up. There's only one way to keep it straight. Always remember who you are," a voiceover in the teaser said.

Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender will be released on February 22, 2024.

Gordon Cormier will play Aang in the series.

"Avatar: The Last Airbender live action I feel like is going to bring everything you know and love about the original series back to life," Gordon said during Netflix's Tudum event in Brazil recently in a press release.

He continued: "And hopefully [it will] just bring a bunch of new fans who have never heard [of] the show before into this universe, and to me that’s pretty exciting. I’m a fan of the show personally, and I’m just as excited for this as you guys are.”

Back in 2021, Albert Kim expressed his excitement to bring the Nicklelodeon animated series to life.

"A live-action version can not only faithfully translate what had been done in animation — it can bring a rich new visual dimension to a fantastic world. We’ll be able to see bending in a real and visceral way we’ve never seen before," Albert remarked.
