During the finals night, the Nicaraguan beauty queen was asked by Halima Aden about the values and qualities she believes a leader and role model should possess.

“The quality that has inspired me and inspired millions of women––and girls––today is humility and to be able to appreciate all of the little things. Because that’s where the most valuable thing is––the essence of being human,” she answered.

Her answer earned her a spot in the Top 3 wherein all three contestants were asked the same question: If you could live one year in another woman’s shoes, who would you choose and why?

“I would choose Mary Wollstonecraft because she opened the gap and gave an opportunity to many women. What I would do, I would want that gap––that income gap––to open up so that women could work in any area that they choose to work in because there are no limitations for women. That was 1750, now in 2023, we are making history,” she said.

During the Finals night, the audience present in the venue applauded and cheered as Sheynnis won the highly-coveted crown by beating 83 other beauty queens. Her winning answer was widely praised by netizens on social media.

The 72nd edition of the Miss Universe competition was a hot topic as it welcomed women from all walks of life to participate, including mothers, transgender women, and plus-sized candidates.

This was a historic first for the organization, which has a rich 70-year history. Sheynnis took over the crown from Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel.
