Universal Reality Combat Championships (URCC), the longest-running mixed martial arts group in the country, aims to showcase Filipino mixed martial arts talents through its partnership with iWantTFC.On Wednesday, November 22, ABS-CBN head of digital Jamie Lopez and URCC founder and Wrestling Association president Alvin Aguilar signed a deal at the ABS-CBN Compound in Diliman, Quezon City.<div style="text-align:center"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/WantTFC-and-URCC-sign-deal-1.jpg" style="width:300px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div>Also present during the signing were acquisitions group’s Rachel Simon and Cecille Sumabat, iWantTFC officer-in-charge for content management Joyce Villaflor, URCC CEO Aleksandr Sofronov, and a select number of URCC fighters. “It’s always good to be back here in ABS-CBN. We are looking forward to be able to showcase Filipino mixed martial arts talents once again to the world with the number one station here in our country,” Alvin Aguilar said in an interview.The URCC founder also said that the Kapamilya network has been key in bringing the mixed martial arts movement to the country. “We’re really hoping to be able to bring the content to the greater market,” Jamie Lopez said on how the corporation will help the mixed martial arts industry.He added, &quot;Alvin and his team have done a great job showcasing and bringing MMA to the market in the Philippines, but I think with our reach we will be able to bring this to the mass market to showcase Filipino talent and show we are world class in this type of event.&quot;<div style="text-align:center"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/WantTFC-and-URCC-sign-deal-2.jpg" style="width:300px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div>CEO Alek Sofronov also shared how the partnership can also break the stigma towards combat sports.“Mainly to promote sport, promote sportsmanship, sports itself and particularly combat sports cause we do have a stigma that combat sports are only for bad guys but I can assure you that we are not those people,” he said in making it more popular.URCC CEO Aleksandr also added how MMA can be the number one sport through its roots and structure in the country.“Not only because of the roots,” he continued, “but the nature of Filipinos and structure. So I think we have more potential in building up boxing, wrestling, combat sports and focusing to others.”
