Fil-Am singer Olivia Rodrigo releases song for ‘Hunger Games’ prequel

Filipino-American singer Olivia Rodrigo released a song for the soundtrack of the Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes on November 3.

"Yayayayyyy!!!! My new song 'Can’t Catch Me Now' from the @thehungergames is out now. the film and the rest of the soundtrack are out November 17th!!!!! Hope ya dig," Olivia posted on her Instagram page.

Fans were quick to express their excitement following the release of the song.

"Olivia you are a lyricist. Well done, I’m glad they chose you to do the song for the hunger games for this movie. You are one step away from being an Oscar winner," one fan said.

"The song is MAJESTIC!🔥I LOVE IT!" one fan commented.

"I am even more excited for the movie now that Olivia has a song in it!" another fan posted.

In another Instagram post, Olivia shared that she was very elated to be part of the soundtrack of the film.

"Soooo beyond excited that I got the opportunity to write a song for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes," she said.

The movie is set to  to be released on November 17.

It stars Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth, and Viola Davis, among others.

According the film's IMDB, the Hunger Games prequel follows the story of "Coriolanus Snow, years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem."

"He is handsome and charming, and though the Snow family has fallen on hard times, Coriolanus sees a chance for a change in his fortunes when he is chosen to be a mentor for the 10th Hunger Games only to have his elation dashed when he is assigned to mentor a girl tribute named Lucy Gray Baird from the impoverished District 12," it added. 

Can't Catch Me Now is the latest song of Olivia following the release of her sophomore album Guts in September.

Guts debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, with 302,000 equivalent album units acquired in the U.S. in its first week according to Luminate.
