The singer's 1989 (Taylor's Version) debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It's her 13th number one album to date. The album sold 1.653 million equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in its debut week.

According to Billboard, 1.359 million of the album units sold were traditional album sales which surpassed the record of the previous 1989 album which sold 1.287 in its first week. Meanwhile it gained 288,000 streaming equivalent albums (SEA) which equates to 375.49 million on-demand official streams. It also gained 6,000 track equivalent albums (TEA).

Aside from the Billboard 200, Taylor also dominated the Hot 100 chart following the debut week of 1989 (Taylor's Version). Seven songs from the album made it to the top 10 including "Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Version)" in No. 1, "Now That We Don't Talk" (Taylor's Version)" in No. 2, "Slut! (Taylor's Version)" in No. 3, "Say Don't Go (Taylor's Version)" in No. 5, "Bad Blood (Taylor's Version)" in No. 7, "Style (Taylor's Version)" in No. 9, and "Suburban Legends (Taylor's Version)" in No. 10. The singer's "Cruel Summer" from the Lover album landed in No. 6.
