Kapamilya star Melai Cantiveros became a trending topic under the K-Pop category following the Asia Artist Awards (AAA) 2023 held at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan. 

Melai become a trending topic on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) alongside the topics #AAA2023inPH and #AsiaArtistAwards2023 on Thursday night, December 14.

Melai's interview and speech at the awards ceremony made headlines online and served major entertainment to netizens.

"Congratulations our debutant, nation’s mamshie, valedictorian, and God’s servant! You made us proud," one netizen commented about Melai on X.

"Melai Cantiveros acceptance speech. She is just effortlessly funny. I can't stop laughing. Deserve Ms. Ma'am," another fan wrote.

In her interview with AAA host Jang Won-young, Melai remarked that she felt like a "first honor" attending the event.

"Attending to AAA is a very honor, I feel like I am the first honor, a Valedictorian in attending the AAA," she quipped.

The comedienne added: "And it's so the best, prestigious award, I cannot believe this is happening."

When asked who was she looking forward to meeting at AAA, Melai responded: "I am so very idol Kim Seon-ho. And then NewJeans because my daughter love NewJeans."

Melai also won big at the AAA 2023. She was one of the recipients of the Best Actor award. Her speech at the awards show also became viral online.

"If someone questions why I won [an] award, don't worry, I question too. I just receive [an] award all of my life from my mother and father every time they are angry to me," she quipped.

"But tonight, my heart is very kuan, the best...I think because of God moves in mysterious ways," she added.

Melai extended her gratitude to the producers of PULP Studios and to her director for choosing her to headline the Ma'am Chief movie.

"I cannot believe what the food that they eat [and] why they chose me," she joked.

"Thank you AAA, I cannot believe this is happening. I'm very sorry to the Koreans, I act it like this. I'm so overwhelmed to this kind of award. Thank you Lord, to my family, we will serve the Lord," she stated.
