In the series, Seo-joon plays the role of Tae-sang who holds the position of marketplace leader at Golden Jade House, making him the most affluent and influential individual in Gyeongseong. Known for prioritizing wealth over justice, his perspective undergoes a transformation when he encounters Chae-ok (Han So-hee), leading to a significant shift in his priorities.

"When I was in Itaewon Class, director Jung’s (Dong-yoon) work was also airing, Hot Stove League, so I wanted to meet with him. And we have So-hee playing Chae-ok in the show so it’s just a no-brainer for me because it’s just going to be really fun," the actor said as reported by ABS-CBN News.

According to Netflix, Gyeongseong Creature's story takes place in 1945 when Korea was under Japanese colonial rule and "centers around two young adults who encounter strange creatures born from greed, and then must battle for survival in the city of Gyeongseong — now known as Seoul. But it turns out, there may be something even more dangerous out there than the creatures themselves."
