Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Can’t Catch Me Now’ shortlisted for the Oscars

Filipino-American singer Olivia Rodrigo took to social media to express her excitement as her song "Can't Catch Me Now" was shortlisted for the Oscars.

The song, which was part of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes movie, has been shortlisted for Outstanding Original Song.

"So excited and thankful that 'Can’t Catch Me Now' was included in the Oscar’s shortlist for best original song!! and @_the_scl nominated it for outstanding original song for a dramatic or documentary visual media production!!!!" she posted on her Instagram page.

The singer added: "So grateful and so honored to get to write music for such an amazing story🦋🦋🦋 big thanks to @theacademy @dan_nigro @francishlawrence @lionsgate @thehungergames."

Fans of the singer were quick to extend their congratulatory messages to Olivia via social media.

"So so proud of you," one fan commented.

"This song is iconic, we’re so proud bestie," another fan wrote.

"This is the most beautiful song I've heard in years. You deserve every award for it," another fan posted.

It was on November 17 when Olivia released the "Can't Catch Me Now" for the soundtrack of the Hunger Games prequel.

Olivia dropped the song after releasing her second album, GUTS, in September.

The Fil-Am singer is set to go on a world tour in 2024 in support of her GUTS album.

Though the singer did not announce that she is staging a concert in the Philippines as part of the tour, Olivia gave a hint about performing in the country soon in her recent interview with Rolling Stone.

"I’m so stoked. I think it’s going to be so much fun to play those kinds of rock songs in an arena too. I’m so excited to feel that energy. I’m so excited to go places that I haven’t been before. I’m really excited to go to the Philippines — I’ve never been — so that’s going to be fun," she said.
