Actress Carla Abellana revealed that she was granted a temporary protection order against her ex-husband, Tom Rodriguez, in an interview with the King of Talk, Boy Abunda, last February 16. Carla added that she has already filed a petition to the court to recognize the divorce that was filed by her ex-husband—who is an American citizen—in the US. 

Carla didn’t disclose any details about her temporary protection order against the actor but her lawyer, Atty. Peter Sanchez, shared that it had to be done for her own protection. The lawyer shared that the temporary protection order is different from a gag order when asked by the King of Talk.

“It's actually for her to invoke protection. If they are in the same building, the same locality, if she doesn't feel threatened or in any manner uncomfortable, she can opt not to. Once she feels, 'I don't like this feeling anymore,' she can request the other party to leave in accordance with the orders of the court,” the lawyer revealed.

The actress admitted that she already reached her breaking point which was why she called it quits with her ex-husband. 

“There was still disrespect, all the lying, there was no change. Hindi po yun first time na nangyari sa amin pero ito po is taken to a different level, extreme na,” she shared.

The 36-year-old Kapuso actress added that she has already moved on from her marriage with Tom. While she still believes in love, the actress has already decided against getting married again in the future. 

“I still believe in love [but] aaminin ko na madaming nag change sa perspective ko especially with marriage. I really, honestly don’t see myself getting married again,” she continued.

Carla revealed in the same interview that she has already forgiven Tom. She shared that she had to forgive herself first in order to do the same for her ex-husband. 

“Mapapansin niyo po yan eh na, ‘She looks like she’s glowing.’ Bitbit niyo po yan eh. So I have, technically po. I saw it as something na I have to forgive myself first bago ko siya mapatawad. Galit, wala na po. Ang hirap pong magbitbit ng galit,” she said.

Carla and Tom tied the knot back in October 2021.
