Nadine Lustre and Mikhail Red are set to team up once again for a horror film.

Following the success of Deleter, the actress and the director will be working together on a new horror offering titled Nokturno.

The movie is currently in development under Evolve Studios, which is Mikhail's new partnership Viva Films.

According to a report by ABS-CBN News, Nokturno tells the story of "a primal and supernatural curse that haunts a rural Filipino family and the daughter who left them to live overseas."

Mikhail remarked that Evolve Studios will be home to "Filipino stories with exciting plots and imaginative ideas."

He explained: "We will take wild swings, aim for spectacle and fresh concepts, yet ground them in sustainable and feasible production. Our films aim to be accessible and exciting to the everyday Filipino audience and will have the craft, production value, and sensibilities for international export as well."

The director added that the goal of Evolve Studios is to diversify film offerings for the Filipino film goers.

"We want to foster genre talent and collaborate with new and established artists and voices, to reinvigorate the industry and help diversify film output for the average Filipino audience," he stated.

Mikhail remarked that the success of Deleter at the Metro Manila Film Festival paved the way for this long-term partnership with Viva to offer genre movies.

"We saw the potential of a strong partnership to continuously create quality genre films to reach the new growing audience whose viewing habits have changed due to globalization and rise of international streaming platforms. Viva believed and trusted my vision and voice," he stated.

Meanwhile in an interview with Nadine back in December, the actress expressed her desire to do more out-of-the-box projects in 2023 after the triumph of Deleter.

"I don’t want to break the momentum. Baka mawala pa. So habang nandiyan na ‘yan, tutuloy-tuluyin ko na. Sobrang excited akong mag-work. Sana more out-of-the-box projects," she said her past interview.

The actress added: "I’m always up for challenges. It’s so hard to get boxed into one particular genre. I guess for someone like me who has been in dramas and rom-coms for a while, until now, there are still many people who could not believe I did horror.

"Mahirap umalis when you get tagged into one genre. While it is still early, I don’t want to be typecasted into a particular genre."

Deleter won seven awards at the Metro Manila Film Festival including Best Picture, Best Director for Mikhail Red, Best Actress for Nadine Lustre, Best Cinematography for Ian Guevarra, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, and Best Editing.

In a past interview with Mikhail, the director said that he was looking forward to seeing Nadine in more genre movies aside from horror.

"Okay din na hindi din siya ma-typecast kasi I think very technical and talented actress siya and she can do more. Maybe more genre films. Madami pang pwedeng gawin. There’s sci-fi maybe in the future," he stated.

With the success of Deleter, Mikhail said that a sequel might be possible in the future.

“Sinadya namin na parang very open ended. Without spoiling the ending, it poses the question sa audience. Sinadya namin yun and we’ll see. We’ll talk to Viva. I think they’re very excited right now. Nag-be-brainstorm kami what’s next sa collaboration ko with Viva. And yun yung gusto ko sa kanila, they’re very creatively open and free. So parang I can’t wait what to do with them next kasi may a few more films kaming naka-sign with them,” he stated.
