PBB housemates support KDLex in ‘Walang Aray’

<p>It was on November 13, 2022 that the Philippine Educational Theater Association or PETA announced that love team partners KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad would be starring in the musical <em>Walang Aray</em>.</p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2022/11/14/fresh-scoops/kdlex-to-topbill-petas-stage-play-walang-aray-203694"><strong>READ: KDLex to topbill PETA’s stage play ‘Walang Aray’ </strong></a></div><p>When the show had its initial shows, KD and Alexa had the full support of their <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/pbbs10"><em><strong>Pinoy Big Brother</strong></em></a> housemates. Their friends came in full force to cheer them on.</p><p>In attendance were Jordan Andrews, Shanaia Gomez, Karen Bordador, and Benedix Ramos, among others. They embarked on another milestone together as they headline PETA’s <em>Walang Aray,</em> a project that Alexa almost turned down. </p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2022/11/30/alexa-almost-turning-down-the-musical"><strong>READ: Alexa Ilacad reveals almost turning down ‘Walang Aray’ the musical: ‘Mapapahiya ako’ </strong></a></div><p>Thankfully, Alexa conquered her doubts and fears, instead choosing to take on the challenge of the theater. </p><p><em>Walang Aray </em>is an adaptation of the 1898 zarzuela, <em>Walang Sugat</em>. Considered the <em>obra maestra</em> of Severino Reyes, known as the “Father of the Tagalog Zarzuela” and more popularly identified with as his nom de plume “Lola Basyang”,  this musical talks about the plight of the Filipinos under Spanish rule. </p><p>In the play, KD plays the role of Tenyong, while Alexa plays the character of Julia. Alexa and KD have committed to performing in at least 12 out of the 40 shows during the musical’s three-month run.</p><p><em>Walang Aray </em>is directed by Ian Segarra and features original music by Vince Lim. It runs at the PETA-Phinma Theater in New Manila, Quezon City from February 17 to May 14, 2023. Tickets are available via <a href="http://Ticketworld.com.ph">Ticketworld.com.ph</a>.</p>
