Dionne Monsanto to make acting comeback in ‘Unbreak My Heart’

Two years after she left show business to start a new life abroad, actress Dionne Monsanto is all set to make her acting comeback via the historic series Unbreak My Heart, it was announced on Tuesday, February 21.

Dionne, 37, was introduced as part of the stellar cast of the new series, which will star Jodi Sta. Maria, Richard Yap, Gabbi Garcia, and Joshua Garcia. Other cast members who have been confirmed include Sunshine Cruz, Gardo Versoza, Victor Neri, Jeremiah Lisbo, PJ Endrinal, and Mark Rivera.

Dionne —  who rose to fame as a housemate on the hit reality show Pinoy Big Brother — announced her retirement from showbiz in 2021, ahead of her wedding to husband Ryan Stalder in Switzerland. The actress made the announcement on the morning show Magandang Buhay and on her official Instagram page.

"This day 14 years ago, our batch (PBB Season 2) was launched. Today, my last TV guesting for @_magandangbuhay aired," she said at the time.

"I started acting professionally in 2002 for ABS-CBN RNG. It has been an amazing 18 years. Thank you for helping this small-town girl achieve her dreams. I am forever grateful," she added.

As an actress, Dionne was best known for her role as Lucy in the 2016 ABS-CBN drama series Tubig at Langis. Her last acting project prior to Unbreak My Heart was the TV5 romance-comedy series I Got You in 2021.

Set in Switzerland, Unbreak My Heart is the first co-production venture of network giants GMA Network and ABS-CBN Corporation in partnership with streaming platform Viu. It will air on GMA and will be streamed in 15 territories outside of the Philippines this 2023.

Also part of the cast of Unbreak My Heart are Maey Bautista, Will Ashley, Bianca de Vera, Nikki Valdez, Eula Valdes, and Laurice Guillen. The show is directed by Emmanuel Palo and Dolly Dulu.
