BTS member Jungkook has deleted his Instagram account.

The K-Pop star confirmed via Weverse that he removed his Instagram  and it was not hacked. He also explained the reason he bid goodbye to the popular social media app.

"I deleted my Instagram account. It wasn’t hacked. I just deleted because I wasn’t using it much… So don’t worry!" he shared.

He said that moving forward, he will be communicating with his fans via Weverse Live instead.

"I immediately deleted the [Instagram] app too, and I don’t think I’ll be using it from now on! I just wanted to let you know in advance!" he further shared.

Jungkook launched his Instagram page in December 2021 alongside the other members of BTS.

Fans online were quick to share their two cents over Jungkook's decision.

"Celebrities care so much about their number of followers and likes but there’s Jungkook. He deleted his Instagram posts multiple times with millions of likes, deactivated the account & deleted the app without caring for anything. Love how he’s so carefree and does what he wants," one fan said on Twitter.

"Jungkook [deactivated] his Insta ID, this really shows he’s doing whatever he wants recently and I feel really happy for that, as long as jungkook is happy and comfortable, 🥺 I love him so much," another fan tweeted.

Jungkook made his debut as part of BTS alongside Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, and V in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment.

The K-Pop group was the first music act from South Korea to land the number one spot on the Billboard 200 with their studio album Love Yourself: Tear in 2018.

They are also the first South Korean act to top the Billboard Hot 100 when their song "Dynamite" topped the charts in 2020.

BTS was nominated as Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in the 2021 and 2022 Grammy Awards. In 2023, they were nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "My Universe" and Best Music Video, Short Form for "Yet To Come."
