Erik, who will be directing Vilma’s comeback film, shared his excitement to work with the Star for All Seasons in his Instagram post on Tuesday (March 13), saying he has been a long-time fan of the actress.

“If given a chance to make a movie for @rosavilmasantosrecto what would it be? I’ve been a fan of Ms Vilma Santos’ Ishmael Bernal marriage twin bill ‘Relasyon’ and ‘Broken Marriage.’ I also loved her in the dark Maryo J movie ‘Tagos ng Dugo.’ But beyond her serious performances, her versatility and range was showcased full on in her sweet and endearing performance in Olive Lamasan’s ‘In My Life,’” Erik said.

Erik — who is known for his work on films Honor Thy Father and the acclaimed On The Job series — said he is looking forward to creating a fresh story and a memorable character for Vilma.

It was back in September 2022 when Erik first confirmed that he and Vilma were teaming up for a movie project.

At the time, he said, “I’ve worked with @rosavilmasantosrecto in a few commercials but I’ve always wished to do a movie with the Philippine film industry’s most iconic star for all seasons. We will be developing two projects with her and after hearing the stories, Ate Vi gave it a nod. A very happy, excited nod. So excited!!! Woooottt!!!”

Aside from her collaboration with Erik, Vilma is also gearing up for a new film with Star Cinema and another one with her longtime on-screen partner Christopher de Leon, entitled I’m So In Love with You. Vilma’s last big screen project was the comedy-drama Everything About Her, which also starred Angel Locsin and Xian Lim.
