“It was not my intention,” said actress Liza Soberano about causing many people to feel offended by her previous statements.

Liza previously got netizens worried when her social media platforms suddenly went dark late February 2023. Liza later clarified that she wasn’t hacked. Rather, it was her way of starting anew.

“Personally, I wanted a clean slate as I launched all the projects that I’m currently working on,” she explained. “For the longest time, I’ve been kind of boxed into this idea that people had of me and of my branding, and so, I wanted to kind of erase all that.”

“I didn’t delete all the posts, and just archived them,” she continued. “I want people to know that I can no longer be boxed in and that, this time, I’m taking control over my own narrative and I will stay true to my heart’s needs and wants.”

Liza drew mixed reactions from people after uploading her 14-minute vlog where she expressed her sentiments about her career. Part of it was how she felt being boxed in and how she had limited control over the direction of her career.

"During all those years, I was never really asked for my input, my thoughts, my ideas,” she revealed. “I felt like I was being told to be just a flower for so long."

This did not sit well with many as it seemed Liza didn’t appreciate the support and hard work that others put in to make her career work.

While she did see where the negative reactions were coming from, Liza clarified that she was not complaining about her career and was just sharing what she went through.

"I feel like a lot of people have mixed reactions towards my vlog, but I’m speaking from my experiences,” said Liza. “The number one thing I would always say to everyone is thank you, truly grateful. And that has not changed until now.”

“I’m not upset about anything, I’m just stating facts, things I’ve experienced, things I’ve been through. And how I am moving forward for that,” she addeed.

Another claim that she made was how she was only getting 30% of her earnings, with the rest going to commissions and financial obligations. Her previous manager, Ogie Diaz, has since gone on record to explain how her earnings were split. Ogie explained that Liza in fact got 63% of her earnings. He, as her manager, got 20% while Star Magic got 10%. From Liza’s 70% share, her aunt and road manager, Joni-Lyn Castillo-Pillarina, got 7%.

In the aftermath of her previous blogs and interviews, Liza sent her apology and gratitude to Ogie. She also acknowledged his significant contribution to her career.

“To Tito Ogie, I would like to say sorry if I hurt his feelings through my [This is Me] vlog,” said Liza. “And I would say thank you for everything that I have, everything that I know, and everything that I achieved [as an actress] through his help.”

Liza likewise sent her apologies to ABS-CBN, which had been her home network ever since she started her showbiz career.

“I’m also sorry again to them if there were people that I’ve worked with closely that were offended by some of the things I’ve said in my vlog,” apologized Liza. “It was not my intention.”

Even after signing on with Careless, a label founded by James Reid, and pursuing a career abroad, Liza still considers ABS-CBN as home.

“You know ABS-CBN was always my second home. I have devoted so many years to them,” she explained.

She reiterated her gratitude to the network for their trust and support, especially when she was just starting out.

“I’m thankful for them for taking a risk on me when I was a nobody, for investing in me, developing me, and for creating Liza Soberano,” she said. “Thank you also for being so understanding when I decided to not renew with them."
