John Castillo Soberano, the father of former Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano, came into the defense of his daughter after the latter received backlash on social media for the video she uploaded on her YouTube channel.

Netizens gave their opinion as Liza talked about her decade-long stint with ABS-CBN and her former manager, Ogie Diaz. She is now with Careless, the management company of singer-actor James Reid.

He told the netizens to watch the video again to be able to fully understand where his daughter is coming from. In an interview with entertainment reporter MJ Marfori, John apologized for the netizens who didn’t understand his daughter’s sentiments.

“Everybody blows everything out of proportion so sometimes you have to sit back and relax and rewatch what she said and really understand what she’s saying,” he shared.

“Since you guys are all hurt, I’m very sorry you guys didn’t understand,” he continued.

Liza has been a hot topic on social media the past week after the rebranding she has done on her social media accounts. A controversial vlog she uploaded further irked some netizens who called her ungrateful.

The actress has since then defended herself and revealed that she is still in communication with her ABS-CBN family. In an exclusive interview with MJ Felipe, the actress shared that she had always been thankful for the opportunities given to her.

“I feel like a lot of people have mixed reactions towards my vlog, but I’m speaking from my experiences and I will reiterate that I am truly grateful for everything that I had and everything that I had experienced, everything that I have achieved in life. And I acknowledge that I wouldn’t have any of that if everybody along the way wasn’t there with me,” she shared.

“The number one thing I would always say to everyone is thank you, truly grateful. And that has not changed until now. I’m not upset about anything, I’m just stating facts, things I’ve experienced, things I’ve been through. And how I am moving forward for that,” she continued.

Liza is set to play the role of an '80s high school cheerleader named Taffy in her debut Hollywood film, Lisa Frankenstein. She auditioned for the role while she was in South Korea via an audition tape she sent in.
