“I’m trying to stay away from the love team thing,” Liza explained. “It’s hard because everything that I try to do now as a solo artist isn’t being taken seriously, or like, isn’t being respected as it’s seen as something negative. They think I’m like some type of wild child now just because I’m not in a love team, or I’m not seen around the same man constantly. When that isn’t actually normal, to be honest.

“A love team is a phenomenon only created and existing in the Philippines, and to box a woman like that is so dangerous actually for their mental health and so for their growth. Not just as a professional but as an individual. So I stay away from that,” she added.

“Like even with the cancelation of ‘Make It With You,’ I was willing to continue it,” she continued, referring to their last television project which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. “And it was a very uncertain time. Tapos the story wouldn’t have made sense anymore kasi lahat ng senior citizens na kasama namin, hindi pwede mag-taping. Lahat ng bata, hindi rin pwede. [So] I was like, it doesn’t make sense for us to continue this story. And I don’t want to work on it para lang masabi na may ginagawa kami.”

“At that time, when I was in a love team, hindi ko naisip na problema siya. Actually, 'yung ‘Hello Love, Goodbye’ ni Kathryn (Bernardo) and Alden (Richards) was actually offered to Quen and I first. I wanted to do that movie so bad but then they were like, ‘There’s another project lined up for the both of you,’” she recalled.

“Tapos while we were doing ‘Bagani,’ nabalitaan ko that at first they offered it to Kathryn and Quen. And that scared the s**t out of me,” she confessed. “I was like, ‘Why did they do that? I asked them to save the project for me and Quen.’ Parang, ‘Please wait for us.’ Because they told us nung pinitch sa amin na hindi puwedeng gawin kaagad kasi they have to develop it more. So I was like, ‘Okay we’ll wait for it. Please hold it for us.’ And then nalaman ko na lang bigla na they were offering it to Quen still but with Kathryn.”
