EXCLUSIVE: Dionne Monsanto returns to the Philippines with daughter Sienna

<p>Dionne Monsanto was excited to finally bring her baby daughter Sienna to her hometown of Cebu for the first time.</p><p>The talented actress was recently announced as part of the cast of the upcoming new series <em>Unbreak My Heart </em>which is the first co-production venture of network giants GMA Network and ABS-CBN Corporation in partnership with streaming platform Viu. The series is scheduled to air on GMA and will be streamed in 15 territories outside of the Philippines this year. </p><p>After flying back to the country earlier this month, Dionne shared with <a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>PUSH</strong></a> in an exclusive interview just how it feels to come back with her firstborn.</p><p>“2023 has been, so far, just amazing! A lot of new experiences for me as a first time mom. My days are full of exciting activities with my 11-month old daughter. This trip to the Philippines is one that’s long overdue.</p><p>“I have been meaning to come and see my family and close friends since last year. I love how calm it is there, and how fast and efficient the system is. Like when applying or requesting for anything government-related, you’re in and out of the office building in 10 minutes.</p><p>“The public transportation is also very efficient, on-time, and stroller-friendly that even if you have a car, you would prefer taking the train, tram, or bus because you don’t have to look and pay for parking. They just become clearer versions of who they really are.’ </p><p>“I think motherhood just amplified who and what I already was, and the traits that I already had. I have to say that, as a person and as an actress, I do feel like I have become more patient, more understanding, and more calm.</p><p>“The most wonderful thing about being a mother that was completely unexpected for me was that it made me appreciate life and time even more. I feel like time is moving so fast. My daughter’s first birthday is on the 18th of April. I can’t believe it has been almost a year since I gave birth to her. I didn’t think I would miss it as much as I did. The energy on set still invigorates me. Doing an acting project now that I’m a mom involves a lot of scheduling and planning.</p><p>“I was very lucky that my sister Aileen was also in Switzerland at the time of my taping. So when I was on set, she was able to look after my daughter on days that my husband had to work. </p><p>“Accepting the project wasn’t hard at all. I mean, this is a very historic collaboration of ABS-CBN, GMA, and Viu. I missed my family and long time friends so much. I missed Filipino food. I missed the beach. BUT I did not miss sitting in traffic for hours though. Haha! </p><p>“We plan to fly back at least once a year so my husband and I can expose our daughter to the Filipino culture. It is important for us that she knows her roots. So far, I have taken her to my hometown, to the public markets I went to with my mom to buy meat and vegetables, and to the places where I played at as a child.</p><p>“Nothing beats the liveliness of the Philippines. And I hope my daughter will also experience and cherish that same lively, positive energy that I experienced growing up.”</p>
