<p>Katarina Rodriguez is grateful to her baby daughter Clara for giving “my dream hospital birth experience.” </p><p><strong></strong>The former Miss World Philippines, 30, welcomed her second child with partner Niño Barbers in January, and in a series of posts on Wednesday (April 19), Katarina detailed her birth story.</p><p>Katarina said she and her partner were having dinner with their friends near their condo when she suddenly felt a “somewhat intense contraction&quot; on the eve of January 29. I refused to be induced since I was having on and off contractions for a few days already. But I also thought nothing of the contraction,” Katarina explained. </p><p>“At 8:30PM we were back at our place and I was bouncing on the ball when I felt another intense contraction. Niño saw my face and started packing the car, I was arguing with him telling him this wasn&#x27;t it, only to 5 minutes later feel a sharp pain in my lower back simultaneously with another contraction. Good thing he didn&#x27;t listen to me bc this was it. So I messaged my OB that it was time.”</p><p>The beauty queen said they got to the hospital at around 9:10 p.m. and at that point, “it felt like something was going to come out” of her already.</p><p>“9:23PM I couldn&#x27;t take it anymore so I told the nurse I am going to push then and there if I keep filling out forms. So she let me go to the birthing suite where the birthing pool was. ... I was relieved to be able to go into the pool and the resident doctor did the IE. She then told me I was fully dilated! I couldn&#x27;t believe her that I asked her if she was being serious lol,” she said.</p><p>Within three minutes after her water broke, at exactly 9:55 p.m., Katarina said she gave birth to baby Clara.</p><p>“It took one long, slow contraction and 3 pushes (together with one long, roller coaster scream) before she came out. She had a cord coil around her neck and the cord was short. God was looking out for us every second of the way. My OB was great and knew how to handle the situation, he also made it right on time, and giving birth in the water also made the coil less dangerous,” she said.</p><p>“I felt her head come out with much ease first, then her body, then her legs,” she added. “This girl was a long baby and was born 7 lbs 12 oz. She led the way the entire labor and was good to me. Every prayer I had was answered. I couldn&#x27;t be more grateful.”</p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2023/2/6/katarina-rodriguez-gives-birth-to-second-baby-939"><strong>Read: Katarina Rodriguez gives birth to second baby</strong></a></div><p>Katarina said things could have been scary if she and her partner were even two minutes late to the hospital.</p><p>“Writing this I&#x27;m still in disbelief at how quick my labor with Clara went and also happy that my prior anxiety played no part. There was no time to wear clothes, to play music, prepare the labor room - no time for fear or pain. There wasn&#x27;t even time for Niño to park the car hahaha,” she said.</p><p>Katarina went on: “Clara gave me my dream hospital birth experience, and if every birth were like this one I could have 10 more. I&#x27;ll never forget the dark place my mind went to during that last month, and I&#x27;ll definitely never forget how faith pulled me out of it. If my son taught me to be softer, my daughter showed me how to be brave again. Now I&#x27;m living the dream with my baby girl in my arms.”</p><p>Katarina gave birth to her first child, Robert Joaquin, in August 2021, also via water birth.</p><p>She and her non-showbiz partner — who owns a resort in Siargao — have been together since 2018.</p>
