Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson happily reminisced about his experience being a housemate in the first version of Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition back in 2006.

In an interview with Korina Sanchez, he shared how “lucky” he got after his stint on the reality show.

Gerald was part of the Big 4 in his batch wherein he finished third overall, just behind Mikee Lee and one spot ahead of Clare Cabiguin. His former love team partner, Kim Chiu, was hailed as the Big Winner for their batch.

Gerald added how easier it was for people to become famous today because of all the platforms available online such as TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. He said that he couldn’t venture into vlogging as he still feels shy about it.

“Sabi ko nga, kung naging artista ako ngayon or nag-start ako ngayon – with how easy it is to be celebrity dahil sa YouTube, social media, mag-post ka lang, celebrity ka na – mahihirapan ako ngayon maging artista,” he said.

The 34-year-old actor shared how grateful he feels for the opportunities that came his way following his stint on PBB

Gerald said that the reality show opened the gates for him to become who he is today and what he has achieved in the showbiz industry.

Gerald instantly rose to fame right after his exit from the PBB house where he was eventually paired with Kim Chiu for several film and television projects. He and Kim were former onscreen and real-life partners.

“Luck is a big part of it. Sinuwerte lang talaga ako,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Gerald admitted that they felt overwhelmed by the multiple projects thrown at them.

“Paglabas namin, gulat kami parehas. 'Yung impact and pagsalubong sa amin ng tao. Again, we are very lucky. You mix that with hard work,” he shared.

“Ang nangyari po paglabas namin ng PBB, parang ginawa na kaming bida sa mga shows. Imagine, two months to three months prior niyan, nasa Gen San lang ako nagba-basketball lang. Again, parang nung galing akong States na pumunta ako sa Gen San, culture shock talaga,” he added.

Even though he and Kim have already parted ways, Gerald remains to be one of the most sought-after actors in the country.
