The Necessary Theatre's Red is returning to the stage, a decade after its run in 2013.

For this run, the play promises to be bolder and more dynamic with JC Santos and Bart Guingona. Bart, who will also be directing, is celebrating his 40th year in the entertainment industry, while JC sees this as his comeback to theater acting after a three-year hiatus.

The artistic team for this run will include three promising new designers: Gabo Tolentino for Lighting Design, Jose Buencamino for Sound Design, and Mark Daniel Dalacat as Associate Director and Production Designer.

Red is a thought-provoking play that explores the inner workings of the mind of an artist and is a must-see for anyone interested in contemporary theater.

John Logan, the American playwright, created Red, which won a Tony Award.

The play debuted in London in 2009 before it moved to Broadway the following year. It delves into painter Mark Rothko's artistic philosophy and the challenge of balancing commercial success with integrity.

Red received critical acclaim for its powerful performances, and innovative staging, making it a staple in contemporary theater.

The Necessary Theatre’s production will be a limited 10-show run from June 9 to 18 at the PETA Theater Center.

Shows will take place at 8 pm on June 9 and 16 and at 3:30 pm and 8 pm on June 10, 11, 17, and 18.
