Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau stars in ‘The Wandering Earth II’

To escape the looming catastrophe, scientists have decided to build ion engines that will steer the planet away from the sun’s reach to a new solar system.</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>However, not everyone agrees with this escape plan and they are determined to stop the Earth from wandering away from its orbit. This, on top of the monumental and dangerous task of getting the engines set up and work, is what faces a group of people people who want to save the Earth from impending doom. I stuck duct tape on the inside of my helmet, so I could relieve the urges by rubbing my face against the tape.” </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>Fellow actor Wu Jing, who headlined the first film, talked about the differences between working on the first movie and the prequel.</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>“With my wife’s support, I starred in the first ‘<em>The Wandering Earth</em>,’ trying to plant a seed of imagination for children,” he said. “This time in the film, many things have upgraded. The seed we planted has grown big and is actively sprouting. I feel so accomplished.”</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><em><span>The Wandering Earth II</span></em><span> was released in China and US in time for the Chinese New Year and has earned $604M so far, making the third highest-grossing movie of the year at the box office.</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><br/></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>Based on the book by Liu Cixin, the film stars Andy Lau, Wu Jing, Li Xuejian, Sha Yi, Ning Li, Wang Zhi, and Zhu Yanmanzi. Directed by Frant Gwo, <em>The Wandering Earth II </em>will be shown in Philippine cinemas beginning May 31.</span></div>
